Whats a good college/university to join between Barnard, Washington University in St Louis, Vassar , NYU and Emory??
for a major in Economics and IR…
Huh?
How do I choose between the above ??
They are all pretty different. Have you visited each?
Go to NYU. You will have the most opportunities and connections in NYC and NYU will have more alumni for networking than Barnard. Many international organizations are based in NYC. You can’t go wrong with that choice.
Congrats on getting into great schools!
Tell us more about yourself and what you are looking for. Non-academic interests? How you would describe yourself? Preference for school size?
Without more to go on, you’ll just get a range of opinions based on our own biases. For example, unlike the poster above, I’d put NYU last over your other choices. My bias is for smaller classes and a well run administration, plus I am a sucker for beautiful campuses. I’d lean toward WashU, Barnard if you like NYC (I don’t), and could also make a strong case for Emory and Vassar.
Im looking at Barnard but Im worried that I may be looked down upon by Columbia students and Im from a co ed school so will an all girls environment be ok ?? NYU sounds good but its such a large city is it safe? and WUSL is it good for Eco ?? I don’t know anything about St Louis as a town is it good for international students ? Im from India…
@abhi97 The Columbia students will not look down on you at Barnard. The students who attend Barnard love it.
Agree w/ MidwestDad3 about Barnard. The Barnard women I know all take classes at Columbia regularly and have never had an issue. Also, helps bring a coed factor to an all women’s college
WashU is very diverse. St. Louis is smaller than NYC but I can’t see having issues with being an international student either at the school or in the city.
What is your net cost for each school?
Have you visited each school?
Columbia/Barnard has a campus, but NYU doesn’t really.
Barnard seldom feels like the small, women’s college that it is. You will have no difficulty finding internships or networking opportunities and it as a far superior liberal arts college to NYU. WashU is a superb institution, but I wouldn’t select it over Barnard any more than I’d select St. Louis over NYC.
I’m wait listed in Pomona and now Tufts… What are my chances to make it out of these wait list? If low I should choose Barnard or Vassar or WUSL maybe… So confused…
Your chances of getting off the waitlist are very slim. According to the common data sets from the past admissions cycle for Pomona and Tufts, zero students were taken off the waitlists. You should focus on the great choices you have in hand.
OK thanks that’s what my family has advised too… Ill research on the professors of each school and take a call…
