As the OP, I just wanted to say that I'm an avid blog reader myself, and IAP and charm school are definately my thing(s) :)

Just the environment is just slightly more important and I don't really know how to gage that without actually staying there. Thanks for all the opinions, everything helps. I'm considering doing an overnight at both of the schools I'm considering to apply to early in the fall if my parents let me. But if that plan fails (which ... p > .7), I'll have to resort to asking my guidance counselor which school she could see me at and which school I'd actually have a chance at getting into :P

GCs don't know anything...at least mine doesnt >.<

If your parents don't let you do an overnight in the fall, don't stress about it. You should apply to the schools that seem at least mildly interesting to you, then visit if you get in. It saves a lot of heartbreak and money. :)

Well I'm sure I'll apply to both schools. I'm just deciding about which to apply to early...

Yeah I am with curious8582008 on this one. Just apply to wtv interests you first, and worry about visiting/environment later after you get in.
Applying early doesn't really matter THAT much.
I am not too sure which 2 schools you are referring to/picking between. Harvard/Princeton doesn't have EA, Stanford is extremely picky for SCEA (rejects a LOT of people and defer really little so you are better of applying normal), and applying early decision is probably not a good idea if you want keep your options open. Most other schools allow you to apply to multiple school early. In most cases, you can apply to both early.

Yale :)
I know they are VERY different schools, but I find that I feel pretty comfortable at both, and each school has something different to offer me. While I want to major/concentrate/whatever in course 18 (applied, specifically), I also want to do minors in music and creative writing. MIT has the strength in the major, but Yale is no lightweight. Yale is better in my minors, but MIT is not shabby either. Then each has a different environment. MIT is somewhat "nerdy" but very collaborative and whatnot. Yale is more traditional what a college ought to be like feel to me, and it does have the beautiful campus, and the what my mom calls "cultured" students. (She's all about refinement).
I know there ought to be one that's "perfect" for me (sorry piccolojunior... still have my childish beliefs), just I don't know which it is yet.

Well.. that and the tricky part known as.. getting in.

-________-

...all I'm gonna say is:

"Blame Yale"

Why the hate for Yale

cuz Harvard kiddos hate Yale!! DUh! XP

And guess who went to Yale? I don't want 12+ consecutive years of Yale in the Oval Office, k thx.

Bush Jr. went to Harvard too.
