Choral Groups

I was in chorus all through middle school and high school, and I was thinking about singing at UVA. What are some of the good groups (both a cappela and choral) for women?

Check out the Sil’hooettes, Hoos in Treble, and the Virginia Women’s Chorus. There’s also Black Voices.

Everything is by audition as far as I know.

Formal choirs:
University Singers - MW, credit class
Chamber Singers (creme de la creme) F, credit class
Women’s Chorus (I have friends in this)
Glee Club (? I’ve never seen them but I assume they’re formal, all guys)

A Cappella
go to the Rotunda Sing to hear for yourself. Check info for auditions at the club fair. There are youtube videos of a lot of groups:

[YouTube - hoos in treble](http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hoos+in+treble&search_type=&aq=0&oq=hoos+in+t)
etc

Also there is an early music group, and Black Voices, and some other cool groups (Remix does cool a cappella).

Community groups:
I decided I had enough of the drama that goes with high school / college / teen singing groups and have no inclination for a cappella. I sing in two community groups which are pseudo-audition. There are 2 early music groups through CVille (MIRA and Zephyrus) if that is your fancy you will get to do amazing music with either of them (PM me and I will tell you all about MIRA which I am in). The only thing to consider is that community groups meet downtown so you have to trolley or hitch a ride with someone. I hear from my friends all about the horrible drama that goes on in the Women’s Chorus and USingers specifically, and there is hazing associated with the Sil’hooettes at least. Just giving you a heads up. PM me if you need more info!
