So I'm applying as a Chemical Engineering major but when I checked the application status page recently it says "Civil Engineering," which really shocked me, so I went back to my CommonApp supplement page and sure enough, I had chosen Civil Engineering by accident... I swear I checked over my supplement a bunch of times. I guess it was because I kept switching between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as my primary... so I made a mistake in the end. And yes, I'm a fool for only discovering this mistake now... I emailed Cornell but the application review process is already underway... do you guys think there is any chance it'd all turn out ok? My supplement essay really only works for Chemical Engineering...

it doesn't really matter what major you apply for . i'm not sure if they even take that into consideration . as long as you applied for the school of engineering i think you should be okay ... unless your essay is specific to chemical engineering

i applied ED to CoE and on my app i said undecided. and i got in.

i don't think it really matters..

but hey~ if it does, civil engineering is great!

lol jk~

Son applied to sciences and later chose engineering during the process. This not only changed majors but also schools. He sent an email asking to be considered for the other and was admitted. I wanted him to rework the original essay on why he chose science over engineering. He didn't and still was admitted. So email/call and do not worrry.

You will be fine. If you essay is about engineering and you applied to engineering it shouldn't make a difference. You're not admitted into a major in engineering (like you are in some of the other colleges). In fact, you're not considered part of a major until midway through sophomore year.

you should be fine as engineer majors are free to wander around majors until you officially declare..

ok thanks guys, I guess I don't have anything to worry about
