Christian college with a great music department (and a cappella groups)

Hi!
I'm looking for a Christian college (or a non-denominational college with a christian ministry) with a great music department- I've been trying college searches on college board and naviance, but neither give the option to search for colleges with great a cappella groups. I would love to be able to sing in both a classical and an a cappella group- it's really the deciding factor for me. I've been looking at St. Olaf but I can only find one male a cappella group (I'm female)- I'm looking for a college with very active a cappella groups!!
If you know of any colleges I should look into, please reply to my thread!
Thank you,
Ellie

Check out Grove City

I have a friend who went to Evangel for the music program. I don’t know how good it is, but she claims it’s great.

The St. Olaf Choir is the premier a capella choir in the United States.
Besides the St. Olaf Choir, the college has a first-year women’s ensemble, the Manitou Singers, and other ensembles, including the Chapel Choir. Other colleges may talk about their a capella groups, but that’s like comparing the Yankees with a minor league team.

You don’t specify if you want to be a music major or just want a participatory experience. There is a major difference in what can be available. You may want to cross post this in CC’s music major forum here [Music Major - College Confidential](Music Major - College Confidential Forums). Plenty there with extensive vocal program knowledge.

Just a google search for “college a cappella” got me here:

[Collegiate-Acappella Directory of College A Cappella Groups A-G](Collegiate-Acappella Directory of College A Cappella Groups A-G)

Cross reference that with the Christian colleges you are looking at, and there you go…

Then, I searched “a cappella Christian colleges” and got this:

liberty u in va

My nephew went to Wheaton College in Chicago and majored in Piano and Business. It is a pretty conservative Christian school and he loved every minute of it. I remember a few years ago his acapella group toured eastern europe

When you say a non-denominational college with a Christian ministry, do you mean that the college has a Christian mission, or just that there’s a strong Christian organization on campus?

Some options in here (some have already been mentioned). Don’t let the thread title fool you http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/775035-christian-school-oboe-eng-horn-performance.html?highlight=faith

Church-founded schools with strong music programs and a friendly atmosphere are Muhlenberg, Moravian and Susquehanna.

Maybe St. Josephs in philly
