Anyone know of any Christian oriented frats at UW? If so which ones? Or just any other information about them. (If there even is any there) ???

[List of University of Washington student organizations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of Washington - Wikipedia) Has a pretty extensive list of the fraternities (you can see in the table of contents there are three sections of fraternities listed here). You can click on each one and see if they’re Christian or not. Sorry, there are like 50 on that page so I didn’t want to do it myself.

Haha alright I don’t think I wanna sit and read 50 biographies to see if any are christian either haha. Anyone else know anything?

It doesn’t seem like it. What appears to be a comprehensive list of Christian frats here
[Christian fraternity - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Christian fraternity - Wikipedia)
doesn’t have any Washington chapters.

Yeah i havent been able to find any either. Thats really disapointing, and actually im very suprised. For it being such a big university you’d think they’d have some religious frats dont you think???

Yes, except for the fact that Washington is the most or one of the most secular states.

This is just personal opinion, but why join a frat anyway? Most of them, not all but most, are full of themselves and have crazy drunk parties.

Also, hazing.

There is the University Christian Union and the 17th Avenue House. I don’t really know very much about either except that they’re Christian based. Google would be helpful.

Haha the reasons you just sadid of why not to join a frat is why I want to join a Christian one. So the people won’t be like that. They’re wouldn’t be drinking/hazing. And there’s already like 5 frrats that are no drinking/hazing but I haven’t seen any that are Christian based as well.

That makes more sense =p Well, for the record, there are probably going to be more religious/spiritual people in the ones with no drinking and hazing, so if you’re set on a frat, don’t be too disappointed none are Christian. You’ll still find some Christian brothas to hang with. Good luck!

yeah i came to that conclusion as well. I seriously cant be the only christian at UW haha. so i bet the frats with no drinking/drugs etc are where most of the religous people go so ill check it out.

Haha, I was wondering this about sororities as well, I’m a Christian. I figured there would be some type of on campus organization/club or something. There are so many people, there’s bound to be one!

haha yes, exactly what i was thinking as well. If not a Frat/Sorrority, then atleast some type of organization.

There are a ton of Christian organizations on campus!

Heres a link to the search for Registered Student Organizations for the term “Christian”

I didn’t find any Christian Fraternities specifically, but you can look them up and take a look at the websites they have. There is also contact information if you have specific questions for the fraternity members.

Bothellcougar, my friend’s very Christian sons had a great experience at a frat at UW. I thought it was a Christian frat, but if it isn’t officially, it certainly is unofficially. If you still haven’t found your answer, PM me and I will get the name from her.

17th Ave House and its sister house are great places for Christian students to live. It is very much like a fraternity type living situation. The students I know who have lived in the houses have been really happy and felt it was a great experience.

momma: is 17th ave house a dorm? frat? I’m not sure as to what exactly that is. Ill reserach it, but thanks everyone!

There are a number of Christian houses around the University of Washington, though none of them are officially fraternities/sororities. Here are a few:

University Christian Union ([University Christian Union](http://ucu.com/)) - There are two houses, one with 26 men and the other with 18 women. The houses are owned by a non-profit alumni association, has a strong community feel like a fraternity, and has a cook.

17th Ave House & Vision 16 Houses ([The 17th Ave House | Vision 16](http://vision16.net/men/17the-ave-house/)) - The 17th ave house has 52 men and is right on Greek row, with a cook, a strong fraternity feel, and a live out house for 10 more students. There are also three Vision houses with 12 women each that cook their own meals and do a lot of activities with the 17th ave house. The whole cluster of houses is owned by a board of private individuals.

UMIN houses ([University Ministries Classifieds | University Presbyterian Church Seattle](http://www.upc.org/ministries/University/Classifieds.aspx)) - There are two houses, one with 10 men and the other with 10 women. The houses are owned by University Presbyterian Church and have strong ties to college young life.

The Shoey House (http://www.universitychristianhousing.com/401.html) - This is a historic mansion that houses 26 women. It is owned by several individuals.

Go ahead and check them all out. Most will offer tours to interested students. Overall, it is a great community and there are lots of overlapped events between all the houses.

If you cannot find a Christian Sorority/Fraternity at UW, there are many Christian organizations that you can join: InterVarsity; CRU (formally Campus Crusade for Christ), some of the local churches, etc.
