For decades, students at Bob Jones University who sought counseling for sexual abuse were told not to report it because turning in an abuser from a fundamentalist Christian community would damage Jesus Christ. Administrators called victims liars and sinners.

Absolutely no surprise. Another adjective, same story. Institutions protect their bottom line and not the real people who have been really abused.

I wonder what Jesus would say about putting their “image” above the pain and suffering of humans.

It really must take a special type of person to attend BJU. Honestly, it’s an abusive environment in and of itself.

Reading this it’s easy to wonder if any of the people involved in the place have actually read the New Testament. If so, they certainly failed to comprehend the message.

That said, I fear this thread will devolve to the usual wholesale bashing of all Christian schools of any type and people of faith in general. I hope I’m wrong.

^^ On a forum devoted to discussing college quality, many of the so-called Christian colleges deserve a little bashing. Still, I doubt too many reach quite the level of cult-like weirdness as BJU. Should anyone be very surprised at this story?
