I’m an international student (from across the world), and I have a feeling I might get homesick.
I recently read somewhere that Northeastern students spend almost the whole year studying or on coop, while barely taking any breaks. This means that I couldn’t be able to come home often, so I have to ask about how hectic your schedules are.
Also, for someone considering the 4 year option, will the short breaks be even shorter?
Thanks!
@evariste it all depends on your major and what you choose to do with your time. There are two summer sessions (May-June and July-Aug), where you can take 1 or 2 classes each. Co-ops run from Jan-June and July-Dec. If you want to get out in 4 yrs, you probably only have time for 1 co-op. However, the university is very flexible and you can work with your advisor to make almost any course of study happen. There are also 1-3 week breaks b/w terms so if you wanted to go home for a short period you could, even if you were going year-round.
There are sample schedules of 4- and 5-year courses online if you search it. Plus, many majors have a sample curriculum worksheet posted as well, so you can go to your major and see the requirements and sort of map it out yourself.
