Christmas Lists

I just asked my parents for money to pay for the excessive application fees, lol, and for the international posting for recommendations etc.

stuff for my dorm next year !

i really want a macbook, but that probably won’t happen…

musicallylatin, you’re going off to college next year, not to your “first” apartment! I sure hope you save some ideas for that too. I’d say your dorm room stuff would include bed linens (sheets/bedspread/blankets/towels) and desk stuff (computer/printer/organizer/desk light, etc.)

I really would like 30$ that I could use to buy something for myself (new pens/notebooks/maybe a jacket). I know it isn’t likely to happen but I can always hope. Last year I was excited when I got 12 pairs of new socks and new guitar picks! Maybe this year the gift will top that :).

Lima:

It’s my mother… She’s kind of gone crazy. I’m going to fill in the rest later. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen as is, and have developed some… peculiarities with how I cook. I’m very much the person that has fiddled with the idea of going to culinary school instead of a traditional college.

For my birthday this year I plan on getting what I’ll actually need. Family tradition is instead of getting gifts you have a set amount of money to get whatever you want.

This is just what I need/want at the moment…
New cellphone
A summer wardrobe (shoes, shorts, underwear, bikini)
iTunes gift card
TOPH and True Prep
Water for Elephants
Some money for next year’s expenses
Nice (reasonably small) tote bag
Summer dress (either maxi or strapless)
Mascara and perfume

I really want a fancy camera of some sort, a canon or nikon idk I’m just really interested in learning how to use one and taking pictures

a replacement ipod (to make a long story short my little sister lost my nano )
perfume
shoes
and I need bras/underwear

I’d be happy if I just get the camera though

Oh… maybe I should request bras and underwear… I’m getting to that point of needing new ones soon.

I need undies too, and can’t buy any myself (why do decent bras have to be over $30?!), but I think it would be awkward to ask for them for Christmas. Usually it’s just my immediate family present while I open my gifts, but there’s a camera going off every second, and I really don’t want pictures of me happily opening up a box of underwear ending up on my mother’s Facebook. :/

LOL ! I feel you on the good bras being expensive. When I was younger, and I got socks, and underwear for Christmas they’d usually be laid out with my clothes from “Santa Claus” so I didn’t have to worry about the embarrassing opening.

Now if I need any of that stuff whether its for my birthday or Christmas, I just go shopping with my mom, I pick it out, she buys it. Maybe you should try shopping on black Friday or at an after Christmas sale, that way you can get the presents before hand or afterward and forgo the awkwardness of receiving them on Christmas day.

Ya… More and more that I think of it, new good bras sound amazing. Mine are getting a bit twisted. Why must I be stupid enough to put them in the washer and dryer?

I do go shopping before Christmas and pick out all my prezzies, but my mom absolutely insists on wrapping them up and then taking a picture of me opening them. I think it’s because my grandma (who’s of the wealthy matron type and lives abroad) thinks I’m being abused (aka not spoiled, which I wholeheartedly agree with) so everything I ever get has to be documented in someway so that my grandma sees that I’m getting stuff - unfortunately the pics for grandma always have to take a detour to Facebook land, where my obnoxious friends live and breathe. I guess I’ll get some after xmas if I get any $$ (but I seriously hate paying a lot for good bras; they never go on sale and I’ve gotten Marc Jacobs shirts on sale for cheaper than my undies).

I just want learning materials for Christmas.

Or some video games.

Or, in the event I have a girlfriend, a marvelous day for her.

I need suggestions.

Winter coat: North Face Denali Wind Pro? I need something windproof not bulky, ideally waterproof and with a hood as well, between $100-$250 retail price. I still don’t want to sacrifice warmth, though.

Rain jacket: Something from the Columbia Titanium line? I don’t think I really need one though since I’ve got a damn good umbrella lol. If anything, I’ll just capitalize on a $30-$50 jacket being sold on ebay or amazon.

Peacoat: I dunno. Lol. I really feel like I’d look good in a peacoat. Maybe a matching scarf and hat to go along with it.

Rain/Snow Boots: I need ideas here. Waterproof and warm, good for snow. Ideally, I might be able to use them for light hiking as well. In the range of $60-$140.

Trainers: Asics Gel Foundation 9? Something comfortable for distance road running. I don’t care much for weight, only that it doesn’t kill my feet on long runs. I’m done with buying $150+ trainers, so something between $40-$100.

Racing shoes: I’ve started running in 5ks, 10ks, and I’ve got a half-marathon coming up. I used to be a sprinter, so I honestly have no idea what I should be looking for lol. XC runners help me out!

And then maybe like a good camera, but I’m already spending a ton of money here and I won’t have much left for actual day-to-day living necessities.

ooh I see ravenclaw, yeah just go shopping after Christmas. I’m thinking Victoria Secret’s is going to have an after Thanksgiving or Christmas sale so hopefully I can score some good bras at a reasonable price, otherwise I’ll be buying them from Target.

and at musicallylatin I’ve never had problems with my bras messing up in the wash, although I did have this one underwire one that got a bit bent out of shape, I think it was cheaply made though

musically latin- i hope ur dorm has a kitchen cuz otherwise u wont end up using that stuff

^ Ya, I’m one of those people who will spend the extra money on a kitchenette. The college I’m looking into actually has more dorms/apartments for girls with kitchenettes than without, so I’m in luck.

^^ As for twisting bras, I’ve only had issues with one recently. It was too dainty for it’s own good because it wasn’t necessarily cheap… Just not strong enough I suppose. I had one identical to it that snapped in half. ****ed me off so badly. The same one I currently have is still going well… It’s just taking it out of the washing machine. It wraps itself around everything better than any other bra I’ve ever had!

Fix my xbox 360
Then buy xbox live and black ops

Celebrate that college apps are done.
Get Senoritis. haha

Wow you guys are loaded to afford all those gifts. How is that even possible? Some of you have lists in excess of 3000$. My parents used to make decent money (north of 6 figures) but the most I ever got was one or two small things. Seems like a lot of people here are extremely spoiled. No wonder many people are put off by the type of posters on CC…

You should donate some of your time and money to help people who can’t afford to even have a Christmas, or even people who are starving on Christmas day. The Holiday season is about giving, not receiving oodles of gifts like spoiled brats.

^ That’s debatable.
