cim or peabody

for violin. anyone have any advice to offer? i would really appreciate it!

I think thelovelybones is having the same quandary in a different thread-- you two might want to compare notes.

Of course it all comes down to issues such as studio and scholarship, but aside from that I personally would rather live in Baltimore than Cleveland.

i second that. i was leaning towards CIM but i figured that i don’t like the area. though that wasn’t the real reason that i’m leaning towards the other conservatory now.

may i ask why are you leaning towards the other conservatory? i heard peabody has great facilities as well…never knew i would be in this dilemma!

As a violin major, you two need to be looking at who’s studio you will be in. You will make friends wherever you are, but the importance of top instruction and connections in your field
should not be treated lightly.
Just as an aside, the Cleveland Orchestra is ranked among the top 3 in the world and is financially secure (at least for the next few years!)…
@ appassionato-what a happy dilemma to have!! I don’t know about Peabody this year, but CIM is always a very tough admit for violin.

i same to be in the exact situation appassionato…

well by the other conservatory, i didn’t mean peabody. lol i meant the other one that i’m considering among the ones i got in.
