I would think that if you sent in your RSVP by the deadline, they would be sending you a letter (Mama4) or email (like Helen3) telling you the $2k was yours.

AdvMom, you should have the Cincinnatus award listed on the "check my aid" on the UC website. My son's Cincinnatus award is listed with his loans, etc.

I was notified via phone today that I am a finalist for the full tuition award!! I'm OOS so I'm pretty excited--as of now, I've been promised full in-state tuition, but may receive the tuition/ room and board / books scholarship after I interview! I'm about a six-hour drive from campus, so I can't do the interview in person... I'm a little worried that a phone interview may hurt my chances. Has anyone had the experience of doing a phone interview for this type of thing? It will take place on Monday, and it sounds like the committee will put me on speaker so that they can all ask questions.

Helen3, jmost schoarship awards note that they are for one year but are renewable based on certain criteria, which usually is GPA oriented. I would bet that just about every scholarship offer made to you by every school has some yearly qualifying criteria.

I am an international undergraduate admitted student of UC. I got an email and an acceptance letter from them(it came by express mail) stating that i have been offered admission and UC Global scholarship worth $7000/year. I did not get any sticker though.

Dont know whether this will help but still thought of informing you guys...

At first I was invited to the Cincinnatus competition but then they told me that they realized that I don't live anywhere near America so they offered me 7000/year based on my "excellent SAT and transcipt"(well that's wht they say). I think it's great to receive such scholarship.

Soymilk congrats on receiving the Global $7,000 merit scholarship.

I have to admit that I find it hard to accept that UC will generally give a higher scholarship ( not counting the few scholarships that are full tuition based) to international students with good credentials than to American students with the same credentials simply because you are an international student . That does bother me a bit...

where do we check how much we get from cincinnatus?? i attended the competition and today is march 15th, so today is when they said we should find out...but how?

Peter - I was wondering the same thing. oboe received a phone call about the full, so obviously I believe I didn't get the full as I didn't get a call, but I want to know how much I did get. I've already accepted to DAAP - SAID.

It'd just be nice to know how much debt I'm going to be in

Thanks for the congrats! Final Cincinnatus offers were made this morning. I received the full scholarship but am not sure if I will be taking it... it's very complicated, to say the least. Anyway, since those are done, everyone else should be notified soon. When I spoke to the Cincinnatus people this morning, they told me that they would send an official letter out on Wednesday or Thursday. It stands to reason that everyone else should receive official letters around that time as well. Good luck to everyone!

I know it would be crazy to pass it up (and trust me, my parents are doing everything they can to ensure that that doesn't happen), but since I am looking at music schools for an Oboe Performance degree, I don't feel that the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is the right place for me. My heart is at another school, which, ironically, is light years more expensive--especially now that this has happened. Granted, this makes my decision extremely difficult. My parents have friends who are still paying off their debts from college... they certainly don't want to be in the same boat. I feel like a kid who's guzzling down cookies before dinner--extreme, extreme guilt. I am hoping that things will work out for the best and that I will make the right decision. And yes, I will be considerate of my parents, of course! I'm going to do everything I can to make sure everyone is happy. But I may end up declining and making an alternate extremely, extremely happy as well. We'll see!

Oboe, I would advise you to REALLY check out Cincinnati's Oboe program. Their music program overall is rated up there with Peabody and other top consevatatories. If you think that they have a mediocre Oboe teacher ( which I assume Oboe is your instrument) then I would understand your turning them down. IF, however, they have as strong a program as I believe they do, you would be CRAZY to turn them down in favor of some program that might .....just might.. be a bit better, for a huge expense. Trust me on this: you will NOT want to have a lot of debt upon graduation. It will affect your life for many, many years.

I second taxguy's analysis and sentiments. I've had the opportunity to attend several student and faculty events at CCM over the years and the quality of the performances and scholarship is outstanding.

Talk to your current music teacher and other trusted music professionals before you make your choice. This is not a decision you want to make alone with so much money on the line. Good luck to you.
