Cincinnatus Scholarship

how do you get the top, full-ride scholarship here because they really dont disclose any info on previous people who got it
i go to a college prep high school in all honors and ap classes i have a 4.32 GPA weighted and 3.86 GPA unweighted, my act is a 30 and i have if more info is needed i can list my activities resume

I think you will get a partial Cincinnatus, but I really doubt that you will get the full ride scholarship. Your ACT is MUCH too low for that.

2011 Cincinnatus Scholarship Competition Award Levels
10 Presidential awards of $88,000
(est. $22,000 per year covers full tuition, fees, room, board,
and a book allowance)
Up to 60 Excellence awards of $65,000
(awarded to National Merit & National Achievement Finalists;
est. $16,000 per year covers in-state tuition, fees, on-campus room,
and a one-time $1,500 to support computer purchase,
study abroad experience, or undergraduate research)
100 Founders awards of $24,000 ($6,000 per year)
600 University awards of $14,000 ($3,500 per year)
Century awards of $8,000 ($2,000 per year)

So would i get the founders or university one?

or century…

Here is info on this year’s top Cincinnatus recipients [Scholars, University of Cincinnati](http://www.uc.edu/scholars.html)
You seem to be looking for a formula and I don’t think there is one. But as you can see most are National Merit finalists or commended. Also, I think the lower awards depend heavily on the college you are in as they seem to spread the awards around and students in some colleges generally have higher stats than in others. 2 years ago with ACT 30 and unweighted 4.0, I got $2000 that was later increased to $3500.

thanks for your help

Has anyone heard yet about Cincinnatus for class entering Fall 2011? I thought I read somewhere that they notify people in late December…

Looking through posts of last year, people got letters for cincinnatus around Jan 4.

I just got my invitation for Cincinnatus today!! :)

Yup, letters have gone out! (Keep in mind I’m in-state). I thought it was interesting that the competition is on school days.

Is anyone else an NMSF? I’m wondering about their Cincinnatus Excellence scholarships (for NMSFs, full-tuition I think)…a mailing I got earlier this fall mentioned them, but this latest pamphlet described all the Cincinnatus Scholarships but Excellence. I wonder if this means I’m not in the running for one, or that they’re handling it separately? If I don’t figure it out in the next few days I’ll just email Admissions.

I am, but I’m not exactly sure on that one. It wasn’t very clear.

Does anyone know the dates for the Cincinnatus Scholarship Competition for 2011? I see in the past it normally is first Saturday in February. I also heard that all you have to do is basically show up and you get one of them. Any truth to that rumour? Also my son was accepted into Pre Pharmacy and wondered if anyone knows how many are invited for that area.

Thanks.

today i recieved a letter saying i was awarded the century level scholarship. does that mean im not invited to the competition?

summerstorm-My D is a NMS at UC (CCM). That scholarship was handled separately. You need to become a NMF first, and then list UC as your top choice. That will happen in February, I think. Let me know if you have any questions.

Boilerace - There are 3 different dates: Friday, January 28, February 4 or 11. It says you can pick which one when you RSVP online. I don’t know about the actual competition or about Pre Pharmacy, though…sorry. (I’m planning on an English major.)

zebsk6 - Yes, I think if they tell you you’re awarded the Century scholarship, that’s which one you’re getting. One of my pamphlets says “qualifying students will be awarded a Century-level scholarship,” but that “Students being considered for University, Founders, and Presidential-level scholarship will be invited to compete on campus.” If your letter didn’t say you were invited, that’s probably what the deal is. Congrats though!

momtheboss - Thank you! I’ll probably be messaging you sometime soon.

Zebsk6 - Would you be willing to post your GPA and test scores, which school you’ve been admitted to, and whether your Ohio or out of state?

Summerstorm, Thanks for the reply. Maybe my son’s will be in the mail this week. As of today we have not yet received anything.

Yes I was accepted into the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. I have a 3.7 gpa and a 28 on the ACT. Im out of state but I qualify for the metro tuition rate since I live so close.

My son has 3.94 and 29 ACT and OOS. So hopefully he also qualifies for the Century Level Scholarship and hopefully gets an invite for higher level awards. Also, I know that OOS students get $3,000 added so that would be $5,000 per year. Maybe he will get something in the mail in the next few days since you all got yours and you live close by.
