Is there a difference between the Cinema Studies program for Tisch and CAS?

From what I understand, the Cinema Studies in CAS is for if you're looking to /study/ film.

Tisch's TV/Film Production is if you're looking to /make/ films.

if your looking to make films you would apply to film & television. not cinema studies.

cinema studies at tisch: "provides students with comprehensive, interdisciplinary training in the history, criticism, theory, and aesthetics of motion picture"

at cas: "Students in CAS may major (or minor) in Cinema Studies by arrangement with the Tisch School of the Arts.

The Cinema Studies department requires that CAS students be in residence in the College for one full year before declaring the major (transfer students may declare after one full semester). After this time, they should schedule an appointment with the departmental advisor to discuss their interests and formally declare the major.

CAS students wishing to complete honors in this major will be accommodated by the TSOA faculty; such students will take two advanced seminars, meet at least twice with the Director of Undergraduate Studies each semester, and complete an approved research project."

so basically, there's not much of a point in applying to cinema studies at cas. you end up taking it through tisch.

no, Cinema Studies is a program at Tisch. Recently, CAS and Tisch just made an agreement that interested CAS students may apply and enroll as a CS major. But it's still a part of Tisch, and its just one program.
