Circle in the Square - URGENT HELP

Forgive me for posting this again, but I posted it earlier on a "brand new looking board" and now that board is gone, the "old board" is back and my post is nowhere to be found! So here it goes for the second time around:

I have not posted in ages but a dear friend is in a quandry and I thought I
would ask here since everyone is so generous in helping with the hard
decisions.

My friend's son is a very talented actor/singer/dancer. He wants to attend
Circle in the Square. He has other options open to him and he is leaning
towards Circle in the Square. This is not an issue of BFA vs conservatory. It
is well past that stage. He wants to "work" in NY or go to a conservatory. No
college degree for him.

So the question is, does anyone have first hand experience or knowledge about
the reputation of Circle? What type of student attends there? Do they get help
with placement or succeed in getting into shows? How would the training compare
to Stella Adler? What do you know about the quality of the training and
teachers?

Any light that you can shed will be appreciated.

I go to Circle, feel free to send me an email with all of your questions or IM me at linziwoolzi.

lindsaylou,

thank you for your offer. I will get in touch with you.

Since I didn't want to start a new thread, I just decided to find this one and bump it up!

I'm going to be sending in an app and auditioning at Circle as a last minute option for an MT school. I already have acceptance to my safety school and will gladly go (and stick to it all 4 years) if I end up not getting accepted to Circle.

I just have a simple question for anyone who has auditioned for the program. If no one knows the answer, I have to call the school about something else anyway so I'll ask then, but I just wanted to get a question out the way ahead of time.

In the audition requirements/guidelines it says: "Applicants should prepare two brief monologues which are contrasting in characterization. Auditionors wish to see realistic, dramatic material which is chosen from the candidate's actual range of ability". It also says that the monologues have to be a classical and contemporary. But does the "dramatic material" mean that both monologues have to be dramatic or are we supposed to have a comedic and dramatic piece like at most other auditions? Thanks to anyone who can answer!

i'd say you should call the school on that one... the people in the office are the nicest you'd ever hope to meet and will gladly answer that question for you.
