Whats the difference between these majors? Can these 2 majors lead up to the same job? I mean I love business and technology in general. But I was wondering what the difference was between these 2 majors as they look the same to me.

From what I have seen, CIS, Computer Information Systems, and MIS, Management Information Systems, tend to be the same degree. What really matters, more than the title that your school has selected, is the curriculum that you will go through. In otherwords, regardless of whether it’s called CIS or MIS, some schools will go further into computer tech & even programming while others lean more towards business utilization of said tech.

^^Not really true. The CIS curriculum tends to have more tech based classes and MIS tends to have more analysis, planning, and development classes.

But either way, they still lead up to the same jobs/careers right?

BUMP.

MIS and CIS are the same degree with a different name, so yes, they get you to the same career path, as you asked 2 years ago. Schools that offer MIS tend to not offer a CIS program, and it is usually offered through the school of business. Schools that offer CIS usually offer it out of the same school that teaches CS. The schools may vary, but MIS and CIS both do project managment, systems analysis and design, relational databases, security, and then you can take electives in computer science and business/accounting.
