Cisco Clean Access

For people who have used this, do you know if the validation client (Cisco Clean Access) is able to detect and confirm that "NOD32 Antivirus" is up to date?

I have heard in some cases that only "popular" antivirus systems are detected, such as Norton and McAfee.

Currently, I know that Windows XP does not recognize NOD32 Antivirus system as a virus scanner. Microsoft Windows XP's "Security Center" is able to detect Norton Antivirus, but is unable to detect NOD32. I am afraid that the Cisco Clean Access validation client will also be unable to detect this.

Uhh, is there a reason why you want CCA to detect NOD32?

I thought CCA had to verify that your computer has all the required updates and an up-to-date antivirus scanner, before allowing you to access the network.

Assuming that CCA does not detect NOD32, it would not let me onto the network. Instead it would tell me I need to install an antivirus scanner on my computer. Something that I would already have, but was simply not detected.

Hmm... I'm guessing NOD32 will work. However, there is definitely no garuntee since CCA works best with the McAfee provided by UCI. I can't say much here =. I do know everyone will have problems connecting to resnet the first week.

I hate cisco clean access agent. Had so much trouble getting my internet up and running last year.

Really? What problems did you encounter?

A lot of the time, it will think you still need to get more Windows updates, even though you have them all. It took me several days to get it to connect properly.

I think not having a validated version of windows might have made things more difficult, though. Maybe someone with a legal copy could verify?
