i just received my confirmation letter of receipt of my application... it says everything has been received (scores, transcript, recs, apps), but i never took a science subject test.

i took Math 2, literature, and USH. i really don't want to take the chemistry subject test in january. if i don't submit a science subject test... what will happen?

CIT's adcom will see it and it may influence their decision. Just because admissions has told you that they have all their stuff doesn't mean that it won't hurt you.

Also, when I got my receipt letter it only listed what they had, it never said anywhere that they had checked and confirmed that my file met all requirements.

A science SAT II is a definite requirement of CIT, so even if admissions lets you slide, I would take it. Its not something that the CIT adcom is just going to forget to notice.

Was this an online message or a letter? I submitted my application with payment and everything and haven't even received an automated online notification!!!!!!

If I were on the admissions committee I would say, hmm, this person doesn't want to come to CMU enough to follow directions, and I wouldn't admit you.

i guess that's a possibility but my CMU supplement essay was pretty good. and my math/science scores are really strong. but i do think it would hurt me, which is why i'm going to take it in january ughhh

Mathmom has the right idea though, CMU gets so many thousands of qualified applicants that its not going to want to take someone who can't follow their directions as to what subject tests to take.

It's not their job to remind you of what you have to do, you have to show that you want it.

if anyone is curious here is the email i received from CMU...

1) Yes, you can take the subject test in January and have your scores rushed to our office.
2) You will still be considered for admission without a science subject test, however, it is strongly recommended that you take the science test.

If you have further questions, feel free to contact our office.

Best regards from Carnegie Mellon's Office of Admission.

i'm definitely taking it... such a pain. and i have to pay $22 to rush the score.. ahhh

I'm a freshman in MCS biology, which has similar SAT/SAT II requirements as CIT and never took a science subject test when I applied, so sometimes it really doesn't matter.

I'm in a bad situation too.. I've taken chem but our school doesnt have an ap chem course so all I had to prepare for it was a collegeboard book, and I got a 630. I should still submit it though, right?

GreatApe, if you are applying this year and are sending in any SAT scores - they'll see them all. A 630 isn't that bad - especially if your other scores are much higher.

im kind of in the same situation but i have not recieved any notice yet.
i applied to CIT but i took Math II and Biology
will that be enough?

biology isn't accepted for CIT. i know that's so lame. CIT requires Math 1 or 2 and Chem or Physics.
