Ok, so basically, I am blessed to be one of the lucky few to be chosen as a finalist for the Gates Millennium Scholarship. I have the grades, Pellgrant eligibility and everything else. But there is one problem. I'm neither a citizen or a permanent resident(Green Card). I've lived in the U.S for the last 4-5 years- it's here that I learned English. Although we, as in my family and I, have been pursuing legal permanent residence since we came, it wasn't until in 2010(one year wait needed before applying for GC) that we received political asylum, which in a way is legal permanent residence, as an asylee can permanently stay in the U.S with that status and have many of the same privileges as legal permanent residents, like applying for Fafsa, and being considered a domestic student by colleges. But we recently filed for a Greencard, which will take anywhere from 4 months to a year. So, do you think I would be eligible for this scholarship, or no?
