I want to study in community college, but I don't know which community college is good for me.(city college of san francisco or skyline college) I want to be a pharmacist in the future. What difference between these two school? Please give me some advice.

this is my first year of cc and i went to skyline. i love it there. the professors are awesome and great at teaching… which ultimately makes the class easier. the honors program is fantastic. and the counselors are the bomb. student life is vibrant as well. it isnt hard to make friends at skyline because everyone there is so friendly. it’s just a matter of how social you want to be.

i cant say anything about city since i never went there, but i highly recommend skyline! im going to be transferring to UCLA next fall so it’s a bittersweet moment because i wanted to get away on one hand, but on the other - im going to miss my skyline buddies.

Does skyline college have any classes relate to pharmacy?
Is difficult to me to transfer to uc?
Why you choose skyline?

I dont know about pharmacy but i do recall there being tons of students majoring in pharmacy at skyline.

It is EASY to transfer to a UC from Skyline. Skyline has TAGs with UCD, UCSB,UCSD, UCI, UCR, UCM… Plus it has TAP with UCLA (only CCSF and Foothill have it in the immediate bay area). TAP gives you priority over other applicants to UCLA. Roughly 90% of students with TAP got into UCLA.

I chose Skyline because of this reason. I really wanted to go to UCLA. Plus the counselors at Skyline are more friendly. I graduated from high school in 2008 and had to go to community college because i was rejected from every college I applied to (the list included lower-tier UC’s and SDSU). At College of San Mateo, the counselor told me to go there and stay there for 2-3 years because “transferring in 1 year by doing 2 years of college in one is impossible.” They basically shot me down on my dream of transferring early to a UC. But at Skyline, they told me I have a fighting chance…as long as I put the effort in. They were more positive about it and didn’t doubt my abilities from day one. Now look at me… I got into every school I applied to (5 for 5) and am now choosing between UCLA and CAL. Just last year, I was rejected from every college out of high school. And who do I have to credit for this success of mine? Skyline.

Definitely choose Skyline. You wont regret it!

I went to CCSF for two years and I hated it… I’m sure living at home contributed but the campus is really dreary and the student population is a lot older… Tons of people smoking in between classes too… the whole campus and buildings just looked depressing. Total commuter campus and I didn’t make one friend there. I transferred to UCSB after two years and it was like going to a different planet, haha.

Your reasons really attract me! But I already apply to CCSF before. I also applied financial aid for study in CCSF. The financial aid office has sent an email to me. If I go to skyline, I must apply again. I really appreciate your advices. I will study in CCSF for one semester. If I don’t like there I will transfer to skyline. Thank you very much!

Why you chose CCSF?
Why you studied at CCSF for two years didn’t transfer to other community colleges?

It was easy to get to from my house since I live in San Francisco… I didn’t have a driver’s license then and there was no easy way to get to Skyline for me.

I will be attending Skyline this fall, seeing that I live 5 minutes away.

I like the smaller environment of Skyline, and I’ve talked to a lot of students and friends, and they say the professors are very supportive.

CCSF is way bigger but my cousin enjoy it there. However, they live in Daly City so it really amounts to commute.

Whatever you decide, stay motivated in your desired program.

Perhaps I’ll you see at Skyline though!

Good luck

Mytime, definitely take summer courses. It’ll give you a headstart. My advice to you and ANY other CCer is to make a plan.

Where do you want to transfer to?
What major are you going to do?

By answering those two questions, you can make a roadmap to success right then and there. The reason why this is important is because getting done with your major prereqs is a HUGE thing for higher tier UC’s like UCLA and CAL. And some of the prereqs are only offered once a year. With that being said, if you create a roadmap of what classes to take and which semester to take them, you’ll be done with CC faster than other ppl who stay at CC’s for 3+ years because they couldnt get their act together. Nothing wrong with that but still…

Feel free to PM if you have questions. Sorry I dont check this board that much as I am more on the UC Transfer one.

I also live in Daly City.
I will study in CCSF for one semester.
If I don’t like there I will transfer to Skyline.
Thanks!

I not sure which uc system I will transfer.
Maybe depend on which school is know for pharmacy.
I want to major in pharmacy, but my English not enough right now.
However I will try my best!

It’s O.K. Don’t say sorry to me! You are an enthusiastic people.
Your information are very useful to me.
Thank you very much!

Thank you everyone!

I will go to CCSF next year because it’s more convenience than Skyline.
CCSF location is just horrible. And the atmosphere there is so negative…
Has anyone got a good expereience at CCSF ? Please share :)

2 year old thread but ccsf is just horrible end of story
