Is SC in the city directly? Like is it surrounded by downtown feels?

Nope. It’s 10-15 minutes away from downtown LA. The campus is in an urban residential area with mostly working class/lower middle class residents.

It is about ~2 miles south of downtown, and does not feel like lets say NYU.

It has a true campus feel as well, unlike NYU or GW. The surrounding area is not immediately apparent. Even the shops/restaurants just outside campus along Figueroa feel very safe.

Alright great! I like being near a city, but not directly in it.

Depending on where you grew up and how you define it, USC may feel very much like you’re right in the city.

If ‘city living’ is a big +/- criteria, I’d definitely visit before applying/committing to attend.

No it’s not a huge deal. I love the city, I just know how being right in the city can affect a campus’ look. So basically what I meant was is it surrounded by taller buildings and scrunched in there, or is there some room for the campus to be open?

You will love it…very open campus and quite beautiful (especially in the sun!) Tall buildings are not surrounding campus.

Perfect then! Thanks guys!
