City vs suburban/urban campus life

I am a senior in New Rochelle, Westchester County and I don’t plan on leaving NY for college. I am just torn on wanting on more campus and community infused campus (such as SUNY Stony Brook, New Paltz, Fordham University) or a city campus (CUNY Hunter, Queens College, Baruch, Brooklyn, City College.) as I am a city lover. It of course depends on my acceptances, as I applied regular decision and have not heard back. I love the city but fear it is too rigid for a freshman right out of a suburban high school. I come from a heavily athletic school and don’t want to trade all of that lifestyle for a more academically centered city college. I also fear I will lose the campus and community life I would get at a more suburban campus with less commuters than city schools. So my question comes down to asking whether anyone that went to a CUNY or other downstate New York school that can relate and share their advice/experience.
Thanks!
