Civil Engineering: Cal State Northridge vs Cal State LA?

I'm transferring from a community college and thank goodness, recently got accepted into both schools. I'm actually still waiting on Cal Poly Pomona, but from the looks of things, Cal Poly Pomona is going to be hard to get in to, so forget about that for now. Referring back to the question then, between the two schools of CSUN and CSULA, (1) which school has a stronger program? Please share about any stories about student organized programs geared towards civil engineering, the overall academic environment and style of teaching, and any other stories that support the respective school.
Also, as far as Civil Engineering is concerned, I heard that it doesn't really matter where you graduate from since everyone's aiming for the Professional Engineer (P.E.) license anyway. Nonetheless, I just wanted to compare these two schools' civil engineering departments and their connections. So basically, (2) which school has a more reputable name when finding a job? Are there any strong connections that either school has with specific companies? Talk about the career opportunities attached with each school.
I know these two schools aren't the best in the world, but I would really appreciate it if you could share anything you've heard of. All comments, experiences, and suggestions are definitely welcome, so please do share. Thank you so much for your time!
