I'm currently a senior in high school and plan to (hopefully) attend the University of Florida. I had planned to major in some form of engineering for awhile now, but just recently have been most interested by civil engineering. Looking at UF's offered majors, I also saw they offer a bachelor of science degree in "Building Construction", which is construction management as far as I can tell. Of the civil engineering path, I would not want to be doing designing necessarily but would rather be out in the field doing work supervising or leading a project and work my way up for promotions and such. It seems that the Building Construction degree is tailored more specifically to my ideal job type, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to limit myself to such a particular career. If anyone is familiar with these subjects or their respective job prospects, could I have some of the pros/cons of a Building Construction degree?

I know that no one has replied as of yet, but by asking around on other forums and researching information I came to the conclusion that Civil Engineering undergraduate degree would be more beneficial and useful in its application in the industry, and may lead up to a master’s in Construction Management. With nearly 300 views I figured someone would be interested.

I believe you can just do Civil Eng. with an emphasis in construction management. You should them be an ideal candidate for many construction management companies.

Majoring in civil engineering and working in construction management is a common career path.
