<p>I am a freshman engineering student and am confused as to whether to do mechE or civE. What type of jobs can you get with each? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?</p>
<p>There’s really no advantage or disadvantage to each. They just lead to different fields. What made you decide on engineering in the first place? What do you hope to accomplish?</p>
<p>I wanna get into the oil or alternative energy industry because that is what I am interested in. I am good at and am interested in math and physics. I know oil and energy companies hire alot of chemE’s, but I’m not interested in that.</p>
<p>Sounds like you need to look into petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. It’s a multi-disciplinary field.</p>
