Claremont McKenna College Chances?

Hi All,

I was wondering if I could get some advice, maybe from student and/or parents who have been or have kids who have been accepted to CMC. Better yet, a college admissions counselor! (I wish [: )With my profile, I was wondering if I stand a decent chance in getting admitted to CMC. Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated!

Gender: F
Location: SD, CA
College Class Year: 2015
High School: Public
High School Type: CA Blue Ribbon School. Great API score. Consistently sends tons of kids to great schools every year.
Will apply for financial aid: Yes

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 3.56-3.6/4.0 (Mix of A's and B's, took every honors class I could, and took 8 AP classes)
Class Rank: School Doesn't Rank
Class Size: 600-700

Scores:

SAT I Math: 690
SAT I Critical Reading: 730
SAT I Writing: CMC doesn't look at it.

Extracurricular Activities:

-Musicians for Change: Founding president and current president. Basically I started a music club that does charity work and gives back to the community.
-California Scholarships Federation: Been a member for 3 years (max. number of years our school offers it) and is currently the treasurer.
-French Club: Been in it for two years and is the current secretary.
-Key Club: Freshman representative and has been a member of the club for four years.
-Kendo (Japanese Swordsmanship): Been doing it for 3 years and has moved up 4 ranks in the past three years.
-Summer 2010: Spent a summer overseas learning to read/write Chinese and volunteering for a charity association. Worked over 5 hours a week at the volunteer place and helped plan a major retreat.
-Did high school choir for three years. In the top choir for two years. Choir is well known for taking home many superior (first place awards) awards. Nationally recognized program.

Other interesting factors:
-Language other than English was my first language.
-Spent a few years while I was in elementary school overseas
-Self taught guitar and ukulele player.

I will also be interviewing with them on campus and hopefully making a great impression...

So with all this, do you think I stand a shot at getting into CMC? Also on a side note, college board lists "Academic GPA" only as a "Considered" factor for admission (good for me considering that I didn't get top notch grades in high school). Meanwhile, "Extracurricular Activities," "Rigor of secondary school record," and "Standardized Test Scores" are listed as "Very Important Admission Factors." And the "Application Essay" and "Recommendations" are listed as important.

THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE!!! (:

I’m a CMC parent. No one can know who will make the cut but IMO you are a good candidate. The only advice I can give you is to write genuine essays that reflect the person you are. S didn’t interview so there is nothing that I can say with regard to that.

Thank you so much for your advice! I’ll definitely keep that in mind. (:
