Hi all!
I am an international student interested in applying for CMC. I wanted to ask if you know any students that got accepted with a great deal of financial aid that covered their tuition, room and board expenses? as my family contribution won’t be more than 1000$ so I wanted to know the average students’ get.
Thanks in advance
CMC is need blind for citizens, permanent residents and DACA students:
> CMC practices a need-blind admissions policy, which applies to all U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and DACA or undocumented students, meaning that a family’s financial need will not negatively influence the student’s admission decision.
So, if you are not a citizen or resident, then need-blind DOES not apply to you and the school appears to be need aware:
If you are seeking financial aid from CMC, know that aid eligibility differs among new students, transfer students, and international students. If assistance is needed, you are highly encouraged to apply for financial aid. Although there are some limitations, we do encourage you to use our Net Price Calculator for an idea of the financial aid package you could receive if you attend CMC.
Financial Aid
If you need a full ride, it is going to be very difficult.
I forgot to add: in order to attend a US university, you will be required to buy student health insurance. This is not covered by any scholarships.
If your family can only afford, $1000 per year, you wont be able to afford the student insurance. Most plans run ~$2K to $6K depending on the university. I don’t think you can afford to come to the US if you only have $1000. How will you pay for airlines, food, and general transportation?
Agree with the above, and adding that all of this feedback applies to your other thread asking the same question about Scripps (which is need aware for all applicants but does meet full need).
Do you have affordable college options in your home country?
hi! i’m an international student who got recently accepted to cmc with a full ride scholarship. so yes, although the competition for intl students seeking aid is really high, it’s not impossible! the scholarship covers tuition, room&board, transportation, meal, books, and even medical insurance. the only thing i have to pay for is my personal expenses (they offered me work-study, approximately 1750$/semester).
so, if you want to apply - don’t let the finances hinder you from doing so. there’s always a chance!
Hi there! Thanks for your answer. I wanted to ask if you’re comfortable sharing your scores or whatever you think were relevant in getting you accepted at CMC. That will be something really helpful for a CMC aspirant like myself.
Thanks in advance!
