For a number of reasons I'm choosing between these two schools to attend next year. I'm looking at heading into IB upon graduation and was wondering how much difference there was between these schools in placement and quantity/quality of job offers. I much prefer the CMC atmosphere, location etc, yet I know that UC is world renowned for econ and will likely place a bit better. Plus, UC bell curves and overly intense academics don't appeal all that much to me. Do you think the advantages of UC in Ib placement outweigh my hopes for fit?

Never heard of the former but both places are gonna have lots of opportunities because you are either in or nearby the city.

I would go with claremont just because you say you will enjoy the experience and you will like the location.

Chicago has perhaps the best economics department in the world – something you would want to carefully consider. CMC will have no outstanding departments in terms of research, but being one of the best LACs in the country, the teaching will be excellent (perhaps better than at Chicago). CMC is, of course, known for its government, IR and even Econ and is part of the Claremont Colleges consortium, so you will have the ability to network with Pomona students too, who tend to place into IB more frequently than CMC. If you work hard at either places, though, they’re in good locations (as theyoungboi pointed out), so you should have an easier time landing internships and converting that into a fulltime job. Good luck in final decision, they’re both excellent schools in their own regards!
