Claremont McKenna Waitlist 2022

Claremont McKenna Waitlist 2022

Anyone on the waitlist? Post your stats, comments, concerns, anything x Let’s support each other!

When will decisions be released?

Not sure, but I got an email today saying my Financial Aid packet is incomplete which means they’re considering people off the waitlist right now! This is great news because usually 0 people get off the waitlist and CMC notifies by May 2 that nobody is getting off. But instead, the Fin aid department has been told to look through the financial aid packets of waitlisted students which means some people must be getting off!!!

@uclalover06 You should also know that CMC accepted 100 fewer applicants this year than in 2017 (558 v. 658). Part of that is a larger ED class, but a bigger factor might be difficulty in determining yield. That means the possibility of greater reliance on the wait list to fill the class. Hopefully, you get good news soon. If that happens, you need to change your screen name!

@84stag I have my fingers crossed I get off the waitlist! I’ve been stressing about it since last week and I’m in the middle of my IB exams so some good news would be great! Are you on the waitlist? If so, good luck to you too! Hope we could both be attending CMC this fall  And yes, i’ll definitely be changing my screen name then

@uclalover06 Good luck to you – on your exams and the waitlist.
I’m a parent of an incoming CMCer; I’m also an alum, as you can see from my screen name. Hope to see you at CMC this fall. Keep us posted.

@84stag thank you so much! i’ll tell you if anything happens. Regardless, I hope your kid has a great time at CMC!

Hi, I just found this thread and wanted to say that today the admissions office called and told me I got off the waitlist! i have until monday to decide! so they are definitely taking people off this year

@creampuff72 did they email you too?

@creampuff72 congratulations btw! did you apply for financial aid?

@uclalover06 I did apply for financial aid, but I never got the financial aid email (i think I had submitted everything tho). The admission letter also did not say anything about financial aid so I assume I did not get any (didn’t expect to). However, I did receive an email on Saturday morning that asked me to again confirm my interest in CMC by responding to the email by Sunday night. I believe it had “Urgent Response Required” in the subject line.

@creampuff72 i got an email too on saturday but it said “Confirm your waitlist status” as the title and asked if I was still interested as I had indicated to stay on the waitlist, to which I responded yes. Was your admission letter sent to your email or did you open your portal to access it? Also, did you accept your spot? Congratulations avain! Hope i can get off soon and perhaps join you :stuck_out_tongue:

@creampuff72 also, i got an email from the financial aid office requesting my IDOC tax forms etc so i assume thats a good sign that im being considered?? Ahhh im so nervous because I didnt get a phone call! (Maybe i wont get one because im international?) I really started getting optimistic ever since I got that IDOC email hahahaha

@uclalover06 About 2 hours after the call I got an email saying my portal had a status update, and the update was the admission letter. The lady also said she would overnight mail the physical letter so that should be coming soon. As far as accepting my spot, I am currently committed to USC and still debating whether or not to commit to CMC. My pro-con list is around 3 pages long at this point lol, but I think I am leaning towards CMC. Also I definitely think the IDOC email is a good sign, there is no reason for them to go through financial aid for students who are not being considered, and I wish you luck! Where are you committed right now, and what country are you from?

Ahhhh thanks! I’m currently committed to UCSD, didnt get into USC which was one of my other dream schools :frowning: I’m also waitlisted at UCLA. I’m an American citizen but currently living in SE Asia (Indonesia). Tell me what you finally decide, i’m super excited for you! Is your financial aid package better at USC?

@creampuff72 sorry i got so excited I forgot to tag you. Comment is above ^ hahaha

@creampuff72 also, did you submit a letter of continued interest? And are you OOS, international or Californian?

@uclalover06 I will definitely let you know when I finally make up my mind (I am so indecisive ahhh)! And UCSD is still an amazing school congrats! One of my best friends is actually going there lol. And I’m sorry about USC but admissions this year were such a lottery, especially at the super competitive schools. I also got waitlisted at UCLA (and UCSD as well) but I am not expecting very much as i’ve heard they don’t generally take in-state kids off the waitlist. As for money, USC gave me some random 4k “university scholarship” which is nice, but doesn’t make a dent in tuition unfortunately. My family is in that weird upper middle class gray area where we don’t qualify for need-based aid but paying full tuition still hurts a lot financially, especially since I have a younger brother who will go to college soon. My parents insisted on USC though over som, so I’m extremely grateful they’re willing to pay that much.

@uclalover06 also I am Californian (Bay Area!) and I did not submit a LOCI (I didn’t think I had a chance at getting off so I didn’t try). I also did not do a video response as I thought I would do an interview, but by the time I realized I had to sign up for the interview, the deadline had passed. Thats why I’m so confused as to why I got in, because apart from a visit two years ago I didn’t demonstrate any interest.
