Clarify hypertonic vs. hypotonic

Hi I've been confused abou tthe 2 for some time now...

hypertonic = more solute than outside or another solution... so if it has more solute then doesn't it mean it will have less water inside therefore water will go in and burst the cell? I thought hypertonic shrivels...

Gahh I'm so confused =[

Hypertonic cells have a hypotonic environment.
so
More solute in cell = more water in its surrounding environment
Thus the water moves in to balance things out, which ends up bursting the cell.
