I think the questions that I meant to asking regarding bikes are whether are not one is allowed to ride bikes on campus (UCLA and UC Berkeley do not allow, for example), and if bikes are a popular mode of transportation at Tufts, more of a convenience/necessity or hindrance? Thank you.

Bikes are definitely allowed on campus. Most people don’t use them, because Tufts has its enormous hill and because with a very limited number of exceptions, everything is within a 5-7 minute radius of the center of the campus.

If your D lives “downhill,” Davis Square (and the T) is a ten minute walk away.

I never saw anyone on a bike in the times I’ve been there. I agree the hill is easier to walk than bike and it’s just not that big a campus.

Tufts just introduced a bike share programme this past semester, so yes, bike use is ok. However, most of the people I’ve seen using bikes are grad students, who travel from their houses off-campus. The hill makes biking strictly within the confines of campus often more trouble than it’s worth
