Clarifying ED advantage (also a chance me addendum)

We all know applicants to early decision are admitted at a ludicrously higher rate than regular admission, is the selectivity do purely to “demonstrated interest” (ED being the holy grail of interest demonstration)? Or are regular decision applicants held to a statistically higher standard (ACT, GPA, ETC)?

For a quick chance me: for interest, i visited in summer (from California), went to the SF regional visit, and have emailed back and forth with my admisssions rep for a bit.
I have a 3.6 UW and a 3.85 W.
ive taken the ACT twice, got 31 composites both times resulting in a superscored 32.5 (does this round to a 33??)

The more interest you show the better. Any college fair American is at in your area, go and check in. Get an interview. I think your stats look good. American wants people who want to be there. My kid 4 years ago got in on ED1 with a 3.3 GPA and a ok SAT score. He showed tons of interest though and wrote an awesome essay. He loves American and living in DC. He is a senior this year.
