Clark Scholars 2011!

haha oh man. i wish we can all make it. except, apoc’s stats are so much better than mine and since we’re from the same area and similar schools, he’s gonna get in and im gonna get rejected. all i can do is hope now

wow. my stats make me feel so insignificant D:

@chaseholl, i applied to another program in texas called baylors hsssrp. if you don’t what that is, the application process must be done online and thus, my teachers sent pdf files of their recs to me. assuming they wrote the same ones for clarks, then they are quite good in my opinion.

Ah.
I looked at Baylor’s program, but wasn’t really interested.

iceui2, you should drop in at TTU this summer and play matchmaker :|

iceui, you are too good.

Answering this question:

“iceui2,
Do you know last year among of 12 Clark Scholars how many were graduated from high school in 2010? Were they also RSIers previous year?”

I believe three of the 12 Clark Scholars last year graduated in 2010 - they went to MIT, Yale, and UPenn. I don’t think any of them were previous Rickoids.

^Because the in the summer of 09, they were doing research at Princeton, WashU and Penn. Aren’t we busy?

@chaseholl: bks85 and I are actually flying down to TTU in about 3 weeks… not sure if we can visit in the summer though :/

@iceui2 - are you actually?

@jsaj, we definitely are :)

I have a question: when do we receive the email reply confirming that they have received my application materials? I tracked the package in US Postal service, and it said that it arrived at Lubbock, Texas the morning of Friday, 3/4.

Also, was this the correct address to send the application to?

Dr. Michael San Francisco, Director
The Clark Scholars Program
Texas Tech University
Box 43131
Lubbock, TX 79409-3131

Thanks

teriyarki, when did u sent it out? and by what service? my counselor sent mine so i have no way of tracking it, and i haven’t gotten a confirmation email so i’m really worried. i emailed ms. durham last night but im sure she wouldn’t be working on the weekends so she probably hasn’t seen it yet.

I sent the application at around 9:00 AM Thursday, 3/3. I used express mail with next-day shipping, and it has been confirmed that it was received on Friday 3/4. I’m thinking of the same thing, that probably they don’t work on the weekends. Maybe I should also email Mrs. Durham.

Mine arrived in Lubbock on Thursday. I sent an email to Ms. Durham and she responded with “Hi originalthought: I’m in the process of opening envelopes and I’m not anywhere near finished. I’ll get back to you when I can.”

So don’t worry too much; there are lots of files to open, yet!

When I emailed Ms. Durham, she responded in two days, so if you haven’t already emailed her, do so now and you should get a response pretty soon.

If I understand this correctly, Ms. Durham will email an applicant directly when his orher application have been received, regardless of whether the applicant has emailed her first to inquire?

I was going to do what teriyarki did (pay US$18.30 for express overnight guaranteed) but decided to go with two-day priority mail when I went to the post office. They said it should have arrived by today, but meh.

I don’t know. Your only safe way is to have emailed her; then she should respond. I don’t know if she will respond if you just apply without emailing her.

Ugh. Now I have to figure out which email address I put down on the form …

Only four more programs to go … I’m going to have such a wonderful March.

Just make sure you mention your name and your high school to make it quicker for her to match you up to your application when you email her.

I got a confirmation email from her without emailing her first. But I also did send mine in a few weeks ago, so she might be more swamped with apps now. ^^;

Don’t worry guys - I sent mine in the day before the deadline. I got the confirmation email on March 10, so just be patient!

The only way I could get it in on time is by sending it to the mail office there o.o Hopefully it works out…

@chaseholl What programs are you applying to?
