^More than half of us last year never made a USAXO.

Thanks for the encouragement … now how many of you never took an AP science or math course before becoming Clarkies? I’m sure that’ll depress me.

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I had 0 AP’s under my belt when I applied.

I have some APs, a few minor math award things… I still think essays/recs are gonna play a major role though.

whew. last few posts calmed me down a bit.
i keep on vacillating between surges of optimism that i might have a chance at this and bouts of depression and utter scorn for that same optimism.

You sound like me, leahmarie. Anyway, I’m just excited for spring break (still have to get past these last two weeks though).

same here!!!

haha guys…i really feel stupid now. so i searched my email inbox and found out that ms. durham did send my a confirmation email the wednesday before the app was due…i was worrying about nothing and i even emailed her saying that i didn’t get it…i had assumed that it was one of those college emails and put it into my folder just for them. darn those college spam emails.

I ran out of time, so did not apply this year. I am wondering if you can attend Clark after your senior year (summer before freshman year).

Yes. Current juniors and seniors may apply to Clark Scholars and attend.

Nice word :)

I feel the same way :P.

gosh… i totally agree with leahmarie…i also really hope prior ISEF awards are not required…now my hopes are on qualifying for USNCO…*fingers crossed :)

Good luck for USNCO. I thought our local section cutoff would be insanely high after what a past USNCO person told me about the scores last year, but it turned out not to be so high (I thought it was 57+ but it turned out to be 54+ for my section; I’m just estimating based on what a fellow semifinalist scored).

@chaseholl Sorry, late reply. We have about 750 students in my class. As for the Chinese, I’m native, so… But that also means I need to take some other SAT IIs because the Chinese SAT is pretty much obsolete for me.

I agree with the CC > FB with the smart ratio. It feels good to be surrounded by overachievers :)

Freshmen can’t take APs at my school, which disappointed some of my overachiever friends and me. I skipped a year of French, so I took AP French sophomore year. It’s actually been an awesome advantage for me as a GPA boost. We take AP Euro as sophomores, APUSH as juniors (easiest class ever, casual 5), and one semester of AP US Gov and one semester of Honors Econ senior year.

As a side note, are any of you taking the SAT II US History? I’m not sure if it’s worth taking, since I’ll be taking Chemistry and Math II as well (fulfilling the SAT II requirement for certain schools). It seems, however, like an easy study if I take it in May, since I’ll be studying for APUSH simultaneously.

Okay back on topic! I got my confirmation e-mail a few days ago, whew! I’m not having a good feeling about getting in though, since I didn’t spend that much time on my essays and I don’t have amazing stats or anything (although iceui has clearly stated they aren’t critical).

And you guys have made me incredibly self-conscious of my school’s lack of academic competitions (aside from AcaDeca). Perhaps I should register me/my school for USNCO. Besides, we do NCO problems in AP Chem as practice all the time. Is the competition something you would make a club for, like SciOly, or do you just take the test?

Already rejected from BHSI
Oh well, I’ve got this, SIMR, COSMOS, and YSP UC Davis as well.

Merci for reading my ridiculously long post!

You could make a club for the Chemistry Olympiad, but it is really an individual test. I just self-studied with past exams mostly. I don’t really think you could make a club for it like you do with Science Olympiad, though. It’s much more individualized than SciOly and the works.

o.o the only thing I’ve done that’s close the olympiad level is the NACLO open and the AIME

Let’s keep this consolidated list going, guys!

whats bhsi?

It’s the Biomedical Health Science Internship offered at UCSF.

I see… I only applied to one other program… I didn’t want my teachers that will write my future college recommendations to be irked by so many letters.
