apoc314 heyyyy!!! we were at wyse sectionals today! i bet u did really well on chem…haha i didn’t do so hot. oh well we’re both going to state! im just surprised that ur sister school didn’t place…

Yeah. I know. I think I saw you, but we weren’t in the same testing room for Chem. I apparently got 1st in chem, but it turns out that the person from our sister school who usually wins chem probably wasn’t there today. The college apparently screwed up the test results and it appears that our sister school that didn’t place actually won 1st place…

haha this is getting beyond creepy. but if they screwed up the test results, does that mean my school’s not gonna go to state?

I don’t know. I think your school still does by virtue of the “wild-card” thing or whatever that’s called; bottomline is that your school is still probably going to state. Our sponsor finally got the people in charge at the college to send the “non-screwed up” results and it appears that I scored a 37 out of 40 on the WYSE Sectional Chem test, tying for first with another student from your school, I think. It turns out that the person who usually wins bio and chem wasn’t there; she had another conflict.

so i got the word that yes, we’re still going to state cuz they can’t “unqualify” us. haha some friends and i were complaining how unfair it is that we have ur school and ur sister school in our sectionals cuz we’re def good enough to place at state but we wouldn’t even get there because of having u two school in our sectionals. anyways we just got lucky i guess. but wait…no one from my school scored a 37 on chem. i bet it was ur sister school? r u sure? but yea i know who u r talking about. she’s crazy. but so r u. haha i thought that test was rough.

So there’s this thing called private messaging… not sure if you two heard of it :)

Ssh, iceui2, that’s for the cabal’s ears only :)

Any USABO semifinalists send updates yet? Or try updating other programs besides Clark?

I’ve sent USABO and USNCO updates, but I haven’t received any confirmation. My other two programs don’t really accept any updates and they’re not as well-known as Clark so I’m probably not updating those. iceui2, how would you send olympiad updates? I don’t really have any paper proof of those, so would emailing Ms. Durham and providing the emails of the teachers at my school in charge of administering them be sufficient? Thanks.

i have some scifair stuff i want to send, as well as usnco (march 26), so im waiting until early april to send my update…

■■■. are there any chemistry or history or english (or really ANY SUBJECT) competitions i can sign my school up for, or are all the deadlines past? i’m literally going to have nothing on which i can update clark scholars… kewl.

Guys. You don’t need Olympiads. Seriously. I doubt APs or SAT IIs will have a strong effect, either.

i’d add my name to that list, but i think it’s taking self-deprecation a little too far. it’s like the kid who comes out of every test wailing that he thinks he failed when he actually did better than everyone else.
and aeschylus… not to seem like a stalker, but didn’t you get a TASP interview? i just remember recognizing your name on the message board. i’m pretty sure that makes you a strong applicant.

Guys I think we’re forgetting the importance of essays/recs. Numbers are great, but they don’t really say much about whether or not you have the personality or maturity to be a part of the program.

I started the list in an attempt to lighten the mood :P.
