Accepted to Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Princeton - but not the Clark Scholars Program.

Dang.

Well, good luck to everyone still in the running.

Accepted to Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and Princeton - but not the Clark Scholars Program.

Dang.

Well, good luck to everyone still in the running.

Thanks Sferics and congratulations on your outstanding admissions! Lots to choose from!

When did you hear from Clark? Just curious. thanks! :)

ermm for those of you who had research experience,

I e-mailed two professors yesterday…
how long should I wait before I can decide the professors are ignoring me? or… more directly put, how long did your mentors take to reply to your e-mails asking for internship?

Sferics, i think your case just proves that Clark Scholars is just another program that you apply for and has no bearing on your future success.

How many people applied to Clark this year? (or in general in previous years?). I’ve heard estimates from 80 people to 250 people. I just want to get an idea for how popular/prestigious this program actually is.

@karaokemachine - awkaaaaard!

@momo899 - don’t want to discourage you, but generally emailing professors themselves won’t be fruitful since they don’t know you…at least that was the case for me. You should hear back from them within 2 weeks at the latest though, and if they don’t reply, then chances are, they aren’t interested.

If you have any connections to researchers/professors through family and friends, try taking that route as well; it’s easier for researchers/professors to take on an intern when they know roughly who they are from a personal level even if it’s through a friend-of-a-friend (even if you include a resume and such). I don’t mean to be a negative Nancy; that’s just based on my personal experience last year trying to find a mentor. I emailed about 20 professors with none of them interested, whereas when a teacher/family friend asked around, I ended up with 4 offers.

@sferics- Congrats on getting into those schools and sorry you did not get into Clark. I feel like Clark is looking for certain people or only takes a few seniors every year. Whatever the case, you should still be proud of your other admissions.

@icecream1- I think a poster who had connections to the program (went to clark last year) said that around 240 applied.

244, to be exact :)

And I agree with the general tone of your comments. Not being accepted to Clark does not make you a weaker applicant. Remember, there are only 12 spots, whereas with the schools you are applying to and have been accepted to-- there are over 1000. Don’t worry about it, go make the best of your summers, enjoy them, and continue doing what you’re doing, because the fact that you even applied to Clark shows you are a passionate and motivated person who will jump when opportunity presents itself.

Also, to whoever said they were admitted to Princeton, do not listen to anyone else who might disagree with me… and come to Princeton
It’s obviously the right choice. I mean, my roommate from Clark and I are both going…

@ gregariously- any idea when final decisions are coming out?

@gregariously: Well MY roommate and I are MIT’ers, so I think we all know the obvious choice here :).

My roommate from Clark went to UT-Austin, and I went to Michigan State. Yay public schools! Actually, there weren’t any two people our year who went to the same college. We had:

UCLA
UT-Austin
UT-Austin and Michigan State
Harvard and Rice
Stanford and Harvard
Duke and Stanford
Notre Dame and UC Berkeley

@ender94: Last week of April- First Week of May is the most specific they told us. Sorry… at least you know it’s within the next couple days? Be like me-- don’t be home when the phone call comes ;)

@iceui2: Oh now you’re just being silly ;)

@proletariat2: I didn’t know you guys had someone go to Notre Dame! I love the Fighting Irish! I was just there a week ago.

^ It’s okay - you two can come over to Boston and the 7 of us can hang out :).

On another note, I heard that someone just got accepted to Clark.

@gregariously- if I am getting a call (wishful thinking
) I will most likely miss it because I was at school until 8 today (10 texas time?) and will be there later tomorrow because it is production for our newspaper. Did they leave messages? I wish my house phone told me if we missed calls.

Has anyone heard back from them this week?

I have not heard from Clark either. I am not as anxious because I got in to 2 other strong programs and am alternate at RSI. Still would like to know if I get into Clark so I can make a final decision. Clark just seems so awesome!

Hi,
I got accepted today! I am more than thrilled. It’s surreal ![]()
Good luck to everyone else in the running!

@ iuvcake

did they call you and/or send an email?

got into clarks and going! :)

still waiting… in overwhelming anticipation. And same question: did you guys who get accepted receive a phone call or an email?

I got it by email!
