trying not to stress
oh man I’m stressing…

Exact email
Dear Francesca:

Thank you very much for your application to the Clark Scholars Program at Texas Tech University. We received over 300 applications from over 30 states and 10 foreign countries and are able to select only 12. It is a very difficult selection process this year and although your application was seriously considered your application was not selected. Your academic credentials are very impressive and we wish we could accept more applicants. There is also the difficulty of finding mentors for some, as many of our faculty travel during the summer months. The Clark Scholars Program will be offered again next summer and since you are a junior this year if you are still interested you are strongly urged to re-apply.
Again, I want to thank you for your interest in our program and for your willingness to take the time to complete the application. Please accept our thanks for the opportunity to examine your credentials. We also want to congratulate you on your scholarly success thus far and express our hope that you will continue your excellence in academics.

Sincerely,

Lynda Durham

I’m praying this isn’t a ■■■■■. If not, I guess those are the first cuts?

I don’t think you burst anyone’s bubble; they were hoping it wasn’t a ■■■■■. So your news is good news for them.

Did anyone else receive a similar email?

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

The person posting acceptances under several screen names is a ■■■■■. If you see someone who registered in April with only a few posts, that’s a good indication it’s the same person. Please report him/her if you see more posts. You can see how disruptive twerps like this are.

Reminder: It’s a violation of the Terms of Service to discuss moderation on the public forums. If you have a question or concern, use the “Report Problem Post” button.

Thank you!

Try not to panic or get too nervous. I got my acceptance by email last year. I never got the phone call (maybe I missed it?) Also it comes out over a period of time not all at once. Good luck guys! :)

iluvcake, you just confirmed my phone call worries; do you think they call regions outside the US?

I’m not sure The best way would be to keep an eye on your email inbox. Haha I did that almost obsessively last year XD

Haven’t heard anything yet by email or phone (I’m in China, so I suppose the latter might be prohibitively expensive).

Out of curiosity, what’s the weather like in Lubbock over the summer? I’d imagine it’d be hot, dry and sunny, but I’ve never been to Texas (disregarding an airplane transfer).

Wikipedia Time!

Pretty dry and clear. Hot in the daytime with temperatures dropping overnight.
(I learned something new today!)

Lubbock is part of the Northern Plains:
[Lubbock, Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Lubbock, Texas - Wikipedia”>Lubbock, Texas - Wikipedia)
[Climate of Texas - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Climate of Texas - Wikipedia”>Climate of Texas - Wikipedia)

The weather is very hot in the summer sometimes even around 100 degrees which is why it’s always air conditioned indoors. The nice thing about Lubbock is that it’s always bright clear blue skies and sunny there and in the case when it drizzles (rarely), it doesn’t last too long ^_^
