Clark Scholars 2012

I see they give you $750 for room and board but do you have to pay for food, research fees etc? I can’t find the cost on the site =/

lolz @ kdengg Nope I think you misunderstood the website. They give you a $750 stipend in addition to paying for room and board which includes food, research fees, pretty much everything unless you want to eat off campus. We went to the local frozen yogurt place from time to time :9 It was really good!

do i put my superscore for my SATs on the application? i know theyll see all individual scores when i send them a pic of my scores but on the application they only give 1 slot.

Do I have a chance?
4.51 gpa w I got all A’s this semester and 2 others, taking all weighted classes this semester except marching band
3.94 gap uw
I took chem ap and bio honors and am enrolled in Biology AP
Test scores:
PSAT (225, 77 cr, 77 math, 71, writing)
no sat or ACT
5 AP Chem 5 MEHAP
EC( I know not too many)
Science Olympiad team sophomore to junior
FIRST Robotics Team (we won a regional and went to nationals) freshman
marching band
was part of a unofficial seminar, at a local highly-ranked university ( a professor offered to teach us biochemistry for a few months, again more of a discussion class).
peer tutoring
Recs:
My chem teacher really likes me, I have another science teacher who likes me, a history teacher who likes me, and a math teacher who pretty much likes me

I was wondering if anyone didn’t do research on science/math? I am interested in psychology/history/Animal Science (maybe)

If so what were your research questions like? thanks!

Also I’m quite confused about the format of the evaluation forms. Am I supposed to print it out for my teachers or have them fill it online and print it out and give it to me? One of the box asked for a signature so I’m not sure how that works.
Last question- do you think it’s too late now to ask for an evaluation as it’s less than a month til deadline?
thanks!

I play Quiz Bowl and I am a 3 time National Qualifier. I also do Science Olympiad and I have qualified for Nationals. I have consistently earned gold medals in the physics events at all my tournaments except Nationals. I have straight As , my GPA is 4.64/5.00 and my class rank is about 11/843. I haven’t taken the SAT yet but from what I have been reading she will take an update through email if I send her the scores right? Because I did garbage on my PSAT I got a 189. M 76, CR 61, W 52. The reason why I need to be able to send my SAT scores in is because I have done the blue book and am now consistently scoring above 2300. I easily have 300+ volunteer hours as well. I am also going to be applying to the Baylor Research Program.

2210/4.0UW/rank#1 (out of 400)

a few small awards, a lot of community work from boy scouts and school clubs, few officer positions, and a competitive environmental restoration internship last year

but I have no “research” of any sort. do i have any chance? or does everyone who attends do some significant type of science project/rsearch etc?

Thanks… :/

I’m not sure if this question has been answered before, but does anyone know if it would be beneficial to contact a TTU research mentor before we submit our applications or get accepted? Did any of the 2011 Clarkies do so o.O?

And also, to previous Clarkies - around when were decisions of acceptance mailed out? And, are rejected people even notificed at all? I know some programs don’t even bother telling the rejected people that they’re rejected…lol… >_<.

Thanks :)!

I’m kind of interested but unsure if this is the program for me is there anywhere/ anyone who could get me a more humane personal view?

I’m a high school senior with good grades, scores, recs, ec’s, jobs and proobably decent research and essays. Will saying you got into a prestigious research institution via early admission get you any bonus points?

For those of you applying for science research:
Are you getting only science teacher recs or 2 science/1 humanities?

The evaluation form doesn’t really specifically talk about science so do you think the Clark people have a preference?

I emailed, and they said any teacher recoms. work just fine

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

I’m applying for science, and I got all STEM recs – one bio (desired field), one calc, one comp sci. I just chose that because these are all teachers who know me well, with good things to say about me. Choose whichever teachers know you the best.

Do I need to have a clear idea of what I want to research at Clarks? What happen if all I’m sure about is my interest…? xD

Also, one page double spaced or single spaced?

Generally, specific is better than nonspecific. But it’s not required by any means, just give an idea of what you’re interested in and potential subareas of interest.

Hey guys,
potential 2012 Clarkie here
I go to the same school as a 2011 clarkie.
Some questions:

 1. Will that affect me?
 2. Will not having previous research experience detract from my application?

Thanks!

Are the essays supposed to be more expressive or more informative? Since 1 page is rather limiting…

How complicated can our research ideas be?

@Sophiax, informative would be my guess…

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC App

is the 1 page essay supposed to be about our awards and honors or is it more about who you are and what made u become involved in science?

i’m from canada ; can i apply to be a clark scholar too ?
