Clark University RD 2023

@ann1126 I didn’t see on twitter but they sent an email. Did everyone else receive that? The email specified tomorrow evening.

Hi guys, international student here. Could someone please rate my chances for lafayette? I’m super anxious about my decision.
Stats: 1350 SAT score 720 English 630 math
3.8 GPA (at least I think so, not sure how A level grades stack up to GPAs)
Strong reccomendations and ECs
President of school debates team, participated in and won at debates and Model UNs. Drama kid. Did an unpaid internship where I taught underprivileged kids for a month in the summer. Lots of general community work.

Clark. sorry

Decisions are out!!

Yay! D accepted with merit!

Daughter waitlisted. Disappointing, but maybe there is hope.

They didn’t give me a decision yet, they told me my decision will be out next week because they received my non-custodial waiver late. Waiting is hard ugh :confused:

@eagertohear What were her stats?

@Oranolio Ugh! Sorry that your wait continues! We are visiting campus tomorrow. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you!

@Oranolio, I am rejected.

Accepted with a $20,000 a year scholarship + $30,000 in need-based aid!! So pleasantly surprised.

Stats:
1400 SAT
45/45 predicted for the IB Diploma
3.9 weighted GPA but massive upwards trend from freshmen year
Leadership positions in numerous clubs
Asian, International, Male

They also personalised my letter and wrote that they “loved [my] passion for MUN and hope to see [me] becoming part of [their] team next year!” Did anyone else get something like this? Although small, the gesture made me happy because it sounds like they really emphasize being personal with every applicant.

@Taylie1768 Good for you! My D also received a nicely personalized letter and she felt the same way about it! I think Clark is definitely dedicated to the individual student.

rfm512, how did your visit to Clark go? My daughter is definitely planning to attend in the fall, and she is interested in majoring in psychology too.

@VeganMom3 HI!

My daughter enjoyed her visit and was impressed with friendliness of students and faculty alike! She also enjoyed the class she sat in on. No definite decision yet but Clark is in the final two. We will be visiting her other top choice in early April. Clark’s psych department including heavy emphasis on research is very tempting!

Are you from the NE? Do you mind sharing what factors led to your daughter’s decision to enroll at Clark?

rfm512, I am so glad that the visit was positive, and it is great that your daughter has two awesome choices! My daughter applied early to Clark, and we are from the NE area. There were a lot of factors that played into her decision. My uncle and a number of friends had attended Clark over the years. They all still rave about the sense of community and friendliness that still seems present today. My daughter went into her visits with these positive thoughts, and she just loved the vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, the way Clark has an over-arching philosophy that includes working with the Worcester community, the strong focus on clubs vs. Greek life, the size of the school and campus, the focus on community service, the professor: student ratio, etc. It seems intellectual and challenging while also supportive and non-competitive. I think it just clicked for her. Feel free to let me know if I can answer any other questions.

@VeganMom3 Thanks for the info!

“intellectual and challenging while also supportive and non-competitive” - wow! that is exactly the feeling we got as well! So glad to hear to hear it confirmed!

My D is napping right now :slight_smile: I think she is “colleged out”! Ill be sure and get back to you if she has any questions. Thank you again for being willing to share your perspective!

I also had a personal note, they said they loved my deep connection to Scrabble (what my Common App essay was about)

I got in with the Traina Scholarship but a lot less need-based aid than I anticipated so I’m not sure what to do :confused:

I got accepted!!

@Oranolio Congratulations!!

@Oranolio Are you planning on attending?
