@Bop I think you should apply ASAP. They will consider anyone admitted before March 31.
@mundanewarrior Hey bro did you get any news from the AES committee
The AES committee is reviewing my application as I was admitted on 2nd Feb. I’m from India and my stats are
88%-10th ICSE (98 in math)
91% predicted - 12th CBSE
SAT - 1470(790 math and 680 in English)
SAT Subjects - 800 in ML2 and physics
111 in toefl
Good ECs, essay and LORs
Can’t attend UTD without AES distinction. Earlier I was thinking that I do qualify but some cases on this forum got me worried. What do you guys think?
I’m guessing you’re going to get lowest AES at the most.
- You applied a bit late.
- You're competing against fellow Indians and many have already applied and got their AES (probably why mundanewarrior didn't get it).
- Your score is only average for Distinction. You might have had a chance for Distinction if you had applied early.
@getoveritnow I guess you are right. Btw @mundanewarrior did they tell you any particular reason for rejection?
For those that received distinction level how many APs were on your transcripts? I was told # of APs is used in determining level of AES. My son has 5 which UTD seems to think is low.
Thanks for any and all responses.
It’s not just AP’s, they are looking for “class rigor”
If I apply literally right now, what do you guys think would happen? 1450 SAT and 4.0 UW
I’m guessing lowest 60% lowest AES, 20% mid AES, 20% nothing.
So I got admitted on 2/6/17, and I’m an in state resident. I’m really hoping for the distinction level and my stats are:
SAT:1490
Weighted gpa: 5.1
Rank: 24 out of 895
16 AP classes
Good volunteer hours
Tutoring job at Mathnasium for little over 5 months
If anyone knows, please tell me how likely it is for me to get the distinction level
I think it looks good for you Imaowa@, you have the score, ranking and strength of schedule. Hopefully you will hear soon.
Has anyone applied to Davidson management honors program?
@Imaowut Have you send your AP scores for AES award consideration?
@mom890 Oh no I have not. Was I supposed to? I only thought that you were supposed to send AP scores to the college we attend for the credit.
they don’t really look at AP scores for AES. also, many don’t have AP scores for this year yet.
@mom890, DMHP is pretty easy to get in so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. And depends on what you son/daughter’s major is, he/she might not need or want to join DMHP.
When they are announcing awards? My son admitted on 2nd Feb.
any time between now and april 15.
Can anyone see the AES scholarship award (under financial aid) on UT Dallas website yet? I can see some updates…
