How much does the school of engineering care about people actually attending lectures?
I've heard that people must be "prepare to learn most of the material on their own" which I'm fine with, but would one still have to attend lectures?

I’m hoping no one is going to college for free only to not attend classes. If someone is getting a free ride and doesn’t attend lectures, I want their spot.

There’s a difference between receiving a full tuition scholarship and getting a “free ride.” And regardless, I’m interested in the question as well.

Some professors actually don’t care about attendance and simply assume that you’ll be there. Others regularly take attendance and will fail you if you miss more than, say, 3 classes.

When people say that you have to learn the material on your own, they may be referring to how some professors aren’t as… proficient. Some simply don’t teach the course material very well, or the students don’t understand what they say. In most of my classes mostly everyone, if not everyone, attends class. There are a few exceptions, however. And you really should go to class to keep up with the material. It will usually harm you if you don’t attend class (unless you are fine with getting a C, D, or F).

What are my chances of getting into Cooper Union. I am an Asian American who is an incoming senior.
