Does anyone have an idea on what the current situation on getting classes is like at ELAC vs GCC, specifically Calc1,2,etc., Phys, and Chem sequences?
I’m currently at PCC but I have to switch to one of these CCC’s and REALLY want to be able to finish these classes as soon as possible seeing as it’s my 3rd year at CC and I’d like to get these major prep courses out of the way to transfer (Ch.E major).
For the Spring '15 semester I took a quick look at the schedules of classes and noticed that GCC has an average of 2 more sections for each class available (Chem101,etc.) but I don’t know if the competition is very tough there for getting into the STEM classes vs ELAC due to population size, special programs, etc.
I’d be equally happy to attend either CCC, I live right between the two, and feel the academic instruction I would receive would be equal. I just want to be sure I won’t end up with an empty schedule due to classes being full!
P.S. out of the programs available that might get me more priority registration (honors, or whatever they have available to that end), would I be able to qualify for those since I have already completed all of my G.E. education at PCC, and ONLY need those three major prep sequences of classes. Don’t those first-year programs, etc. give you priority registration for all sorts of English, etc. classes? If anyone has experience with these programs, much appreciated.
Edit: Would you recommend maybe applying for both, and when registration time comes around for each I can see which one I’ll commit to then? I won’t be attending both at the same time.
