Just wondering if someone can explain the logistics of dropping a class during the year. If you are struggling with a class are you allowed to drop it with no affect to your gpa? What are options you have?

[Drop/Add: Office of the Registrar: Indiana University Bloomington](http://registrar.indiana.edu/dropadd.shtml)

That should answer most of your questions

thanks that was very helpful. What exactly does a “W” mean or do to your resume?

Just try to keep the W to as few as possible. Not everyone is perfect and there are always circumstances in which you might need to withdrawal from a class. If they see just one W, it’s not likely to hurt you much. W’s aren’t necessarily good, but they look a lot better than an F.

Luckily W’s don’t affect your GPA so a lot of people go withdraw-happy when they start doing poorly in classes. Apparently there is a limit to the number of W’s you are allotted on your transcript so be careful.
