Hi all,
First off, thank you to anyone/everyone who offers their help in this situation; I have been contemplating this for the past week and have talked to numerous people to little avail. We are all confused on the optimal solution.
The situation: I am an undergraduate freshman student desperately trying to transfer to another university. I have already written applications to a number of universities. I currently have a strong GPA. Everything was going well until recently when I failed a midterm in the class of my major due to an extenuating circumstance (I cannot make up this midterm/do anything about the grade). However, I have already submitted my mid-year report to colleges so they do not know I have failed this midterm and my current grade in the class is low. In the class, I have a C- currently, but if I do not drop it, I plan to work insanely hard and will achieve a B in the class.
What is the chance that a transfer university rescinds its acceptance after admitting me if it unexpectingly/unknowingly sees a W on my transcript because I didn’t notify them about it until after I was accepted and sent my final transcript (I will then attach a note explaining what happened)? Do they rescind applications often, and will they given this scenario?
If I do not drop the class, my GPA will take a slight hit, which I am trying to avoid, especially from an intro class like this where most people get A’s and use it to cushion harder classes.
I have until tomorrow to make this decision. Again, I really appreciate any and all input. For anyone that answers, I will answer two questions of yours in order to pay back the favor.
Yours truly
