Class Load, how it affects chances

Im taking only 2 ap classes my senior year and like 5 my senior year. I feel that this might be a waste because by the time I take the 5 tests my senior year, I'll have already recieved my admission letters. Can you tell me if I'm right or wrong and what else I can do. Also is my present class schedule with a gpa of 3.8 good enough for HYP or other highly selective colleges?

Junior year
Pre-calc honors
AP LA comp
AP US hist
Spanish 3
Chem. 1/2 honors
elective- advanced photography

Senior year
(taking physics over summer)
AP L.A. 12 Lit
AP Calc AB
AP Spanish
AP Chem
AP Amer Gov
elective

First of all, it would have been preferable to have taken at least one more of the APs your junior year--but I notice that you did take 2 honors courses your junior year in addition to the two AP courses--so that's not too bad. And while the schools won't see your grades in the senior year (although sometimes if you are borderline they will ask you to send in the first semester's results), they will see the courses you are taking--and taking a heavy load shows initiative.

As far as the Ivies--they go by rank (for example, 3/300)--and test scores are really important. Since you didn't post either one, this makes it difficult.

Also, Ivies really care about ECs (extracurriculars) and you didn't post these either.
