I just finished my application

Rank: Unknown, likely top 20% at prestigious school
ACT/SAT: 29
Other Schools: U Michigan, U Florida, U Miami, U Georgia, possibly U Illinois.
Major: Sport Management

I'm OOS, it's a safety school for me, but I like the school. I'd really consider going if I can't get into Michigan.

Go Hoosiers! I have no idea what they are, except for characters in my Dad's favorite movie, but that's my way of expressing how I love IUB.

Rank: 2 of 700 something (very, very public high school)
SAT: 800 cr, 720 math, 750 writing
SATIIs: 780 lit, 780 mathII, 770 Bio
Other Schools: Yale, Harvard, Amherst, Johns Hopkins, Scripps, Colgate, UCs because I have to for my parents' sakes
Major: Molecular Biology, Neuroscience if I can swing it

I posted this ? earlier, but does anyone know anything about the Wells Scholarship? I'm trying for it this year.

OMG! How can you not know what Hoosiers are? It's the team mascot! Indiana basketball? The rich tradition? Jimmy Chitwood? LOL, no wonder you have such a high rank and grades, you're not getting out enough!

I am applying as an out of state student from PA. I got a 1960 on the SAT and am in the top 3% of my class. I am applying there as a safety school, but would definitely love to go there.
Other Schools: Penn State, UMICH, Northwestern ED, and CMU
Major: Either Finance or Economics depending on where I get in.
Go Hoosiers!

Im applying for microbiology as a safety
SAT: 700 cr 640m 610w
ACT: 30 reading 28 english 27 math 33 science 30 comp
Rank: top 25%
Other Schools: Miami Univ(OH), Ohio Univ, Purdue Univ, U of Dayton and who knows where else

terry - have you considered better schools, or do you really want to go to Miami OH? I'm sure you could get in to possibly better schools. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois would be 3 good schools for you. May be a little late for recommendations though, but you seem almost too good for the 4 schools you listed.

Actually Ohio University is my top choice simply b/c the environment is excellent. Im not really into the prestigious school thing. I've been posting around trying to have schools suggested. I recently moved schools and recommendations actually are the thing thats been holding me back. The teachers at my new school will write me rec's but i would rather my old teachers write them. I didnt fell like going through a lot of hassle so I only arranged for one of my teachers to write me a rec for Miami. I most likely will not attend miami but I wanted to get accepted to at least one good school so it didnt fell like i worked hard sophomore and junior year for nothing

LOL, everyone who's applying is doing it as a safety.

It's a nice school!

Actually, i'm real glad it's my safety...

"terry - have you considered better schools, or do you really want to go to Miami OH? I'm sure you could get in to possibly better schools. Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois would be 3 good schools for you."

I certainly wouldn't consider Michigan, Wisconsin or Illinois "better" than Miami-Ohio. In fact, I'd say Miami's superior to all 3 at the undergrad level: comparable student quality, much more intimate, better senior faculty attention.

I got my acceptance letter a couple of days ago. Yay for rolling admissions!

Congrats tkm256!

Have you heard yet about the Wells Scholarship?

I didn't apply - didn't meet minimum criteria. Hope it goes well!

They sent me package to complete the nomination process. I have to do the essay thing, get some more teacher recs, and fill out the EC-type stuff. I hope I make the finals! My mom's car just got smashed, so my parents would be really happy to have one less $$$ worry on their minds.

Here's where I stand.
University of Nebraska-Accepted
Iowa State-Accepted
Purdue-Pending
Indiana-Pending

I applied about a week ago, 2.8GPA, 21ACT, really good EC's. I guess will see if Indiana is really that easy to get into. I'll give you guys an update when I get the decision.

btw tkm i cant believe ur freakin applying to Amherst LOL man i mean in california most people dont kno tat school trust me i kno mi bro goes there and man he got so much crap from his friends who were like applying to ives and stuff ya well wit ur stats u'll probaly make it, even though its tough school ur stats are stellar ya so isay for u Amherst is match prety much, yale eh not surething so cuz you kno HYP are always unpredicatble ya. btw mi bro a sophmore now and he likes the school ( his first choice and applied ed), the school is very hands on with the students cuz ukno its LAC but one bad thing i tink its very liberal you kno fyi.

Yeah, Amherst is like the total opposite of IU :) To be honest, I would never have heard of it, except my Dad has a friend who's friend teaches at the music department there. He's dead-set on me going to an LAC; but if I get the Wells Scholarship for IU I don't think he'll mind ;)

haha ic, yea well you should go where you want to since its gona be 4 years of your life but eithe way if you get acceptances to both then your not losing anything cuz both schools are good btw when did you apply to IU?

I applied in September. I needed to make the scholarship deadline.
