class of 08.. rhp?

anyone applying for it?

ill reply to my own thread heh :)
im worried about getting in, since in past year they accept less than 30 (from around 300+ applications)

i have:
-4.0 gpa each year, unweighted
-will take ACT- got 33 and 34 on my practice tests
-at my school every AP has 2 or 3 year of pre-reqs, so its near impossible to take them freshmen or sophomore year (an exception would be you are a native spanish speaker so you take AP spanish freshmen year). i am taking all the APs and honors that are offered to juniors though- AP us history, AP env sci, and honors chem
-my school does not do class rankings (good thing bc my school is FULL of overacheivers)
-i take 2 languages- french and spanish. i am in french 4 and spanish 3 (i started taking spanish in sopho yr and skipped level 1)
-clubs: key club, GSA
-sports: cheer (its my first year. wanted to try something new)
-extra curriculars: this is my 13th year at a rigorous ballet school.
am i co-director of a dance company that was founded by 2 teens 6 years ago. we do EVERYTHING alone and i mean EVERYTHING. we have been on tour to mexico where we used our performances to raise money for a local orphanage (valuable life experience)

um.. .thats all i can think of now... but i dont know if i'm "outstanding" enough for RHP...

oh yeah and possible majors- bio, biochem, biomed... basically i want to be a medical doctor. oh and maybe environmental science too? i've heard that it can work as a pre-med major.

Do well on your ACT, and I believe you have a great shot at getting accepted to RHP. Take your time on the essays. I believe that is where you will really be able to let Penny, Diane, and the others at the RHP office know that you have the motivation and capability to do well after skipping your senior year.

I don't really think you have to be "outstanding" in terms of academics to be in RHP. I can't say for sure how much of a chance you have, but I know that each class is very diverse and has a wide range of interests and passions.

I'm applything this year
4.7 W/4UW
I'm in... ap chem/physics/ush/english... honors precacl and sapnsih 3
EC- Key, Red Cross, Interact, CARE, CSF, NHS, FBLA, Grizzlies for God, SADD, World Film, MUN
2/800 ranking...
Worried abuot SAT... Hoping for 2100, last year PSAT was at 187, but I stopped caring halfway through.(its no excuse, i only might have gotten 195). I tihnk I will try ACT too. Don't even know what thats like.

I don't know if I would do this if I lived far away, but 40 minutes from home, I'll still be able to see friends and whatnot so I'm not missing TOO much sr. year

is there an email address for the RHP admission person/people ? i cant find anything on the website... there is a phone number but i never get home before 8:30pm on weeknights plus i hate talking on the phone..

Why do you guys want to skip out on your senior year of high school? Live life and have fun, you only get to do this once. The few RHP people that I talked to last year hated their high school experience and just wanted to get out of there. Unless you guys fall under that category, are there any other reasons you want to grow up so quickly?

thats exactly what I'm debating
I LOVE high school
but... its not fun during the weeks... only weekends. lol, as in, i figure senior year I'll take 5 APs (as opposed to my 4 and honors precalc) and just... yuck its not even fun doing hw from 4-10 (might as well do that in college?)

and I'll be close to home
can go to the football games
the dances
the parties

I dunno

I'll tryi t for kicks

my other option
was (if i don't do well on AP physics or chem test this year), take only 4 classes at igh school (out of 6... BC, Gov't, english, micro) and 2 at the local JC to get SOMETHING to transfer as credit

email, see here:

not that my opinion counts for much, but I think high school is pretty worthless. anyone who gets into RHP, I say, should do it if they really want to.

why apply to rhp?

well, scholarship money. honors. oppurtunity.
i think high school is alright, i like it fine. i am not one of those "i hate the high school social scene" punks. i have friends. heck, i'm a cheerleader however my home situation is not the greatest. it would be healthier for me to get out sooner. thats why.

If you're bored with high school and can get into RHP, do it! My son was accepted into this year's class. At the last minute, we had to have him withdraw. Now he is stuck in high school with 4 APs, 2 honors, and 5 credit hours at a local college. He is so bored! I wish we could have sent him.

I would like to know what the acceptance rate for this program is...

USC says the RHP receives around 300 applications a year and 20-30 students are accepted.

part 2 application, end of september?
yeah right!

part 2 is up :D

woops?

o well

bump... any more RHP applicants out there?

is an ACT 33 good enough to get into RHP? penny said my grades and everything looked wonderful..

it never hurts to apply. if you get accepted, it's an awesome opportunity (and a tempting one). I applied, got in, went, and now I'm enjoying my senior year at USC. Awesome place to be.

yes i already applied...and i REALLY want to go. already visited and interviewed and everything. but if that score isnt good enough i want to do something to somehow retake in time for the deadlines. but if i dont absolutely need to retake i wont as i have severe conflicts w/ the dec ACT date.

im applying. My extra curriculars are awesome and according to what my teachers said they wrote good recommendations.. now waiting for my sat score which is coming out on the 28th. My GPA is so-so.

I'm just curious if we need a interview or not. I really can't find the time to interview
