Class Of 09 Only

yup AND we have 8 classes...block schedule
so every class is an 1 hour and a half

so thats why i wanna go to a public school with happy students
with 55 minute classes, actually have casual dances,
and can still get an A with a 92!! grr...i hate getting 92 cuz thats
just a B for me. no plus or minus...juss B

not all public schools are like that, mine is 7 classes (no homeroom) of block schedule (90 minutes each), and an A at my school is also a 94-100

egh ur public school sucks!
hey at least you get good education at a cheap price

I like public school, but a lot of time and energy is wasted on kids with major behavioral problems. Private schools can kick kids out, but expulsion at public schools ends up being wayyy more expensive so we have to keep all the troublemakers around. That's why I can't wait for Cornell. It will be amazing to go to school with classmates who all actually WANT to be there.

My public school has 9 classes, 40 mins each every day . The good part is that after AP's are over in May I'll have spanish and gym (which will only meet two days a week).

i love block scheduling! my school has it and its soo much better. only 4 classes a day

i think i'd prefer block scheduling, less work every night right? ... but then again, that could just be because my school has regular 8-period days... grass is always greener on the other side lol.

well it doesn't necessarily mean you have less work every night. because you only have 4 classes, each 80 minutes, the teachers tend to give more of a workload. so its not like we get exactly half as much as the people who run on a regular 8-period schedule. And if you take AP classes in my school, those classes are every other day but for en entire year, as opposed to the normal classes that are only half a year. So, since i'm taking all APs this year, i have a huge courseload. despite the hw not being due the next day, it still tends to become overwhelming.

nonetheless, i still love block scheduling because the day seems to go by quicker with only 4 classes.

Okay:

I'm in a program that has 8 periods.

Everyone else in the school (and the county) has seven periods.

In other words, I get out of school 45 minutes later than everyone else in the county, including most private schools.

Ech.

IggyShuffle, what time does your school start and get out?

we have 8-period days too. we start at 7:20am and get out at 1:55pm.

School starts at 7:25 (I have to wake up at 6:10 because my school is not exactly that close, but other kids in the program have to wake up even earlier. Fortunately for me, I have a parking spot.)

I leave at 3:00

Everybody else leaves at 2:10

However, there is good news. I just saved a bunch o....no. Seriously, next semester, my eighth period will be study hall, and the program allows second semester seniors with an eighth period study hall to leave at 2:10.

Wow, you guys get out early!!
We have block schedule and the school starts at 8:40 and get out at 3:35.
Not all but about half or more than half of AP classes in my school are yearlong.
So for me, only 1 class changes next semester (which starts the day after tomorrow)

whoa, i would kill to have school start at 8:40. thats so awesome!

8:40? woah.. what state is that??

For me, school starts at 7:35 am, but I'm always there around 7 am because I have to park my car. Plus I like to go in early and speak to some teachers, study, etc.

But 8:40.. Man, that would be great.

My school starts at 7:33, ends at 2:15. Don't ask me where they got the 33 from...

My school goes from 7:20 to 2:15. Luckily I have an amazing parking spot because my partner and I were the first ones on line during the summer. That saves at least 5 minutes every morning. How is the parking situation at your schools?

we get assigned parking spots at the beginning of senior year, the earlier you handed in the money, the closer you are to the school. it's not bad... but the teachers always get the best spots lol.

wow, it seems like so many schools get out early. I have school from 8:30 to 3:50 with 7 periods a day.

my school system was the BEST. There were 12 periods in a day, but we only needed i think for senior 4 periods. I remember sophmore year, i didn't have class until 10:17 because my first class was 4th period. Senior year, because i had to take 10 classes was bad, but many of my friends who had 4 periods a day, would come at 9, and go home at 1 (50 mins classes)
