Class of '09 Who got in

I'm a Chem E if you have questions and as far as a double major in chem and chem E? I wouldn't see the point. Also it is hard to major in anything else if you are a chem E. Almost impossible.

he said that he couldn't tell me a decision over the phone and that i would recieve something in the mail. Kind of weird considering that they told me to contact them.

the first time I applied there last year i had a 'please contact' so i did, and they told me everythign was ok. then i got rejected.

good luck!

will receive something in the mail? that's weird...
if it would be a rejection...they dont put "reject" in the decision box?
only for admits and defers??

u mind sharing ur stats?

hehee
dont want to post my stats

Hey IlliniJBravoEcho

I have been admitted to Chem E and I am from out of state. I want to know how tough are the classes and can you get help if you need it from the profs or TA's? How friendly are the people, what things can you do at the campus? Also how are the opportunites for internships and coops? Do most people get a job after graduation?

Thanks for answering.

Yeah the 1st semester was a little crazy b/c I don't know if you heard of Zumdahl (he is super famous and writes the textbooks) but he just retired and things were just a little unorganized as they had about 3 professors try to fill-in his absence. Needless to say it was a bit messy especially because the main prof was hated. The classes are tough especially if you didn't get a good background in Chem in high school (like me). Help is easy to get if you want it tho. I love the people here. I am very social and have a lot of friends (example, my rule at orientation: For every new room, meet and talk to a new person) and there is plenty of stuff to do. Whatever you thing whether it be sports, academics or music there are oppotunities. You'll find out Quad Day when all the organizations come out to the Quad (and if you've seen pictures it's big) and tables cover the whole thing. Plenty of oppotunities for internships and co-ops but mostly later on not you freshman year and you will take a class second semester (I'm in it right now) explaining more about Chem E. (I was very lucky to receive one at U of I the summer before my freshman year.) Almost everyone gets a job but I think you had better worry about getting through the program. Getting a job is the very last thing on my mind because I know I can with the education I am receiving at U of I. Actually the only reason I'm typing this right now on a Friday night is because I'm staying in to finish a lab (taking a break for this forum thing I've just joined) that is already 9 pages long and I have only finished typing 3/4 of just my data! So I hope you come here b/c it's great and if you have anymore questions just ask. I am always happy to answer questions about Chem E.

Hey, was wondering, lets say I accept the offer from UIUC as an international student... Then a while later, if I get accepted into another college, can I retract the UIUC acceptance just like that? Or is accepting the admission offer binding?

It is binding to the extent that they will keep your deposits for admission and for housing if you withdraw your acceptance after May 1.
