Class of '12: Are you excited or scared?

Is it bad to be happy about heading off to college? Everyone else on here is talking about how scared they are. I'm not at all. Maybe it is because I heard all the stories and I'm ready to deflect "most" of the drama. I mean ok dorm rooms no privacy, big deal you already knew it was going to happen. Everyone has bad experiences but you get over them... anyways what do you guys think?

Im heading off next Wed. and dammit I'm happy!

i'm excited to get away from the drama at home..and i'm excited to meet college friends and to be able to live on my own..but i'm a momma's girl, so i'm gonna miss seeing my mom everyday :(

^Yeah, pretty much sums it up for me too.

I'm pumped to move away from home, but I'm not sure how am I going to balance everything!

Good luck to all '12ers!

It's a mix of both. atm, though, I'm leaning towards the excited side.

You should be happy, it'll be some of the best years of your life.

A little bit of both, but I'm a whole lot more excited! :D

Definitely excited. I'm with you. I know the dorms are small, I know I'll have to share a bathroom, but big whoop. No used to get worked up over that stuff.

Plus, on the surface, I should enjoy all of the classes that I'm taking, which will make the school part really easy.

I really don't care that much about college, in fact if I had to pay for it myself I probably wouldn't even go and I would likely join the military or somethin. I prefer going in there with the lowest expectations so I can be surprised.

I'm excited, but i just saw my 2 best friends for a last time for awhile and i'm sad now :(

Same.

Mixed feelings but looking forward to meeting new people.

Right now I'm beyond excited. In about an hour I'll be scared out of my mind, and then I'll flip again.

It's been like this for months now.

Me too. I'm more stressed out about preparing to get there since there's sooo much to do in sooo little time!! D: I have barely started packing and I'm leaving in a week or so.

Me too! My best friend just left for college, so now I'm freaking out a little bit more. But I am ridiculously excited to the 6 trillionth power.

I'm having a going away party tomorrow so I can see everybody before I leave, but it's so frusterating because everyone has either left or is on vacation somewhere!

Has anyone else also experienced the awkward "byes" with people because you're not sure if you'll ever see them again in your life? (The best part is when you see them again the next day after saying your last goodbye, haha).

awkward byes, oh yes. I wasn't sure if I should hug all my friends when I probably saw most of them for the final time (I'm not much of a hugger) or just say "bye" and leave, so anticlimactic. At least the cool thing with technology is friends are still never more than an email, fb message, or text away.

Excited. But so getting so neurotic about all the stuff I have to get/do... mixed with the limited amount of time.

I just had an awkward bye to one of my good friends. It was just like, um, I won't see you for another...five months. Then, I questioned whether to hug or not. I didn't and just said "Bye." It's not like we're never talking ever again.

I just realized today how much I'm going to miss my parents...My mom has been dedicating herself to making everyone of my fav. Vietnamese dishes everyday for the past few weeks (I have a lot lol).

scared crapless b/c i'm supposed to be with the "best and the brightest of our generation" but excited b/c i'll see all the people i befriended during this program i did at my school
