I am so glad that I don't actually know anyone EDing.
I'm too petty to still like them if they get in and I don't. ;)
and also, too competitive for it to be any fun waiting.

One of my good friends is also applying early to NYU, but to Stern so she's not competition. If she wants, I'd think I might have to shoot her kneecaps or something lmao. I'm in a senior class of about 1000, and only like less than 15 people are applying early.

Haha I found this reading back through the beginning of one of the threads. That IS us now. The time has come.

Haha...oh dang.

Class of 1000!?!?! I don't think I could handle it.

chris: 15 people to NYU or at all?

15 to NYU is crazy a ton.
hahaha

chris: 15 people to NYU or at all?

15 to NYU is crazy a ton.
hahaha

haha my graduating class is like 300-400ish people I think, and probably like at least 20-30 people are applying to NYU. My school district seems to send a ton of people to NYU each year, I guess since I'm in New Jersey. I only know of one other person besides me (and then there are a couple people who I think might have, but I'm not sure) that applied ED though.

Wicked - I'm in a class of 230ish, and I only know of one ED person (Rice). There were a few EA people, but most people have applied to someplace that's already started rolling admissions. I know of only one person that's applying to an Ivy League school. Sadly, not many kids go to four-year college out of my school. It was a culture shock when I moved here in January.

Haha, no 15 overall. Though half my school applies to NYU, literally. We are a NYC public HS afterall, so NYU waives the app fee for us. :) Haha my school's about 5000 kids in total, in a place built for 1000 kids. -_- Most overcrowded and applied to HS in NYC haha.

Though last year only about 6 kids got into NYU. Our saludictorian got into Stern but went to Harvard (first kid to go to Harvard from our school in like 7 years! What what! lol). Two who got into GSP for CAS but both turned it down for Macaulay Honors (one of which had a 2300, but she was rejected from Columbia too so it wasn't a fluke). The other three girls got into CAS (one Steinhardt actually I think), and one of the CAS girls got in through the CSTEP program, which is like HEOP but for professional majors only like law, education, etc. They were all RD I think.

The three that didn't go t NYU were all Asian. So last year, no Asian went to NYU from my school (which is like 45 percen Asian haha and NYU which is l27% Asian).

So hopefully I can break that trend this year. :)

Our classes are about 250 people. For the past 2 years, 40 people applied, 2007=24 got in 2008=19 got in.

sage - so when you think about it, you have a better percent chance at acceptance than we do, statistics wise.

Well on paper...yes. But I'm applying to Tisch (unlike almost everyone in the figures I've listed), so that point doesn't have as much strength as if I would've applied to CAS or something.

^ Haha same here. What major?

Hi-
I am Bryan and I am from South FL (the land of the elderly, sunburnt tourists and butterfly ballots). I applied to CAS (Major: Economics) ED. I have known about College Confidential for along time, but I didnt want to post anything, because I didnt want to jinx anything. But I figured that my fate is probably already sealed and sitting in an office on 4th street, so why the hell not.

From a young age I knew NYU was the place for me. I was born in the city (Mount Siani- to be exact) and I consider my self a New Yorker in exile. I can say that because I have mastered the art of Jaywalking, I can list every stop on the 6 train, I know the best bagel places (Essa and H&H... if you were wondering), etc, etc. I am also a liberal Jew, so there could be no better school for me.

I live in boca raton, so I am really looking forward to going to college. (I told my parents that they would have to get on a plane to come and visit me in college, where ever I end up). The Wasps and Japs could just kill you. However, After reading this thread, it made me appreciate my town. The thought of having to go to High School football games on friday nights makes me cringe just a bit.

Ok, So I am kinda nervous about getting in. I have the grades 3.66 (coming from a really competitive school) and the scores 30 ACT (I am kinda ****ed that they superscore the ACT, if I had known, that would have helped me alot, I would have been more like 32) and my SATIIs are 720 (mathI) and 790 (US-Hist) I have really good ECs and Awards. But, there are two other more qualified people applying from my school ED. Does anyone know if this has affected anyone in the past? Also, I know NYU is not need blind, but will it help you if you dont apply for financial aid/ will it hurt you if you do?

Also, I saw that someone had mentioned housing for next year. If I get in I want to live in U-Hall. In my mind, Union Square is the center of the universe, or atleast the bridge between upper and lower manhattan. It doesnt get better than silent raves at 14th Street and Park. I also like the apartment style housing.

So, thats my spiel. Hopefully, I will be going to classes with all of you in September. But right now, I will just worry whether I will be getting a large envelope or a (I dont wanna think about it) small envelope.

-Bryan

@bryan- your stats seem to be great! I applied to CAS ED as economics major too.

does anyone know what size envelope LSP offers come in?

bryan, all of your stats look really good. i was the one talking about residence halls (a long time ago) and I agree with you - U-hall seems to be the best option. I live in the south, too--SC to be specific. I don't really know about if it's harder to get in if there are other people from your school who are also qualified applying ED because I am probably the first person ever from my high school to even apply to NYU. Anyway, in the mean time, I'm just worrying about the envelope that I will hopefully see soon.

rstlne 33, I got mine on Friday and it was pretty big! They had the letter plus a couple of other papers, plus a large information booklet in it.

mgeev - thanks! oh man, this is so exciting...and nerve wracking.

I cant believe that people are getting decisions already. Mine better come before exams, or else I will be way too nervous and distracted to study.

How does LSP work? If I get rejected from CAS, will they offer me admission to LSP if I am on the bubble? Or, do students apply to LSP?

This year it's different. You used to not be able to apply to LSP (previously known as GSP), but this year people can. And generally, the admissions committee will put you in if you are qualified, yet your stats are a bit low.
